    A problem occurred while updating....

Hello again, forgive my multiple posting, but I do not know what to do at this point.

I keep trying to update Final Fantasy XIV on my desktop, and it keeps stopping, with error codes [11006][20641][20643]. Here's what I have done to try and fix it:

-Uninstalling completely and reinstalling by downloading the client time after time.
-Borrowing my friends physical disk and installing from there (crashes during update, not during install for this).
-Connecting to my router with LAN (previously have used wireless).
    -Yelling and cursing. A LOT.

Is there any other path I can take? Thanks!

Are you sure that when you uninstalled it you got rid of every related file? I saw on another thread that the individual character files can become corrupted and you have to manually delete them and then reboot the game. You won't lose any character data because all the files will reappear, fixed.

I'm not sure if this was a related issue, but it's worth a try.

    Have you emailed SE yet?

In lieu of any hepl here you may want to try Googling "ffxiv ffxiv [11006][20641][20643]", you'll find many references to this error on other forums. The first thread listed has several suggestions, all seem to be related to a 'left over' installation, such as this post:

I ran into this problem today on one of my pc's getting the latest update. I went into this directory and deleted an old patch file and it updated fine.

    C:\Users\*****\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\downloads\ffxivpatch\4e9a232b\patch\(nameofpatchfile stuck in here)

    Hope this helps.
Later in that thread at least one person replied that solved their problem. It would do you no harm I think to uninstall then manually ensure all trace of the game has gone.

What is the 'crash' that happens when you install from your friend's DVD, that could indicate some other problem on your PC.

    [edit]

Just saw someone else replying along similar lines, ie. remnants of a failed installation causing problems later.

Thank you everyone for your responses. Taking Kraggy's advice and googling led me to a forum that had a link for downloading a .torrent to avoid these error codes. Hope it works!
