Known details of the PvP system.

So Yesterday I was going to reply to someone elses post asking about information about the PvP system but due to the posting restrictions on the forums, I was unable to reply right away. Now I can't find it (should have subbed it, I know). I find it interesting that we have a posting limit like this on thr forums that is linked to the level of your character yet nothing like this for /shout or /yell in game...

But I digress. I felt it would be a wasted effort to just forget about the stuff I found on PvP since there have been quite a few people asking about it. What I found below was just a quick search result so If other people have more info and links they would like to add, just post below and I'll add it to the OP.

Here are a few sources from the LftP Live's. I will have source links so you can brows other questions and see the videos themselves.

Q: Is there anything you would like for us to test specifically in phase 4?
    -snip-
The second is the PvP system. Until now we've been developing two kinds of PvP systems, the coliseum and the front lines, with the coliseum system coming first; however, the official name for this has been finalized and it will be known as "The Wolves' Den." In phase 4, we'd like players to test out the basics of the PvP system, and we will be checking the distance that your attacks register against other players, as well as how much we need to increase the accuracy of players' packet matching. However, PvP-specific actions will not be implemented, so we'd like to have you test this out by using basic attacks. With the results of the test, we will be fine tuning the data packets and checking the lag, and plan on releasing the content in patch 2.1. Once implemented, we will have all of the PvP actions available as well as PvP equipment and other rewards.

And here's the second one, this is just off the top of my head too, I know there has been more said about it. There is more in this second source link but this was the juicy bit.

Q: Please give us more details on PvP.
A: I'm not sure how knowledgeable most people are about PvP, especially in the JP community, but the coliseum that we're planning to implement at launch is something like...a gathering place for the world's strongest warriors. When a PvP battle starts, you'll see four players from the opposing team on the other side. Once the signal is given, the battle starts. Now, if I was a black mage, I'd obviously focus on casting magic from a far while trying to keep my distance, since I'd be slaughtered in close combat. I might also hide behind pillars or other obstructions while attacking to prevent others from targeting me.

Of course, I'm sure opposing warriors and paladins would attack me first because of my low defense, so I would probably try to cast sleep or repose to take them out of the fight for a short while. Depending on your role and the situation, you'll want to fight with a different style. And, as I mentioned in the previous live letter, you can use the environment to your advantage. These matches will be balanced around 4 vs. 4. Hopefully everyone can try it out and go from there.

That's the general idea behind PvP. Of course, there will be situations where melee characters try to ensnare casters, or think of ways to prevent the opposing player from running away with sprint. Oh, and you'll be able to restore TP by using potions. I could go on and on about it. Anyway, you’ll receive points when you win a match.

And when you gain a certain amount of points, your PvP rank will go up. As you gain ranks in PVP, you'll receive a different type of points. These particular points can be used to obtain weapon skills, for example. PvP players can create certain builds by using these points. These points can also be used to purchase the PvP gear I introduced last time.

*Artwork of PvP gear is shown in the video.

So essentially, your goal would be to gain points through matches to obtain PVP skills, passive abilities, and gear to grow stronger. You can even buy—well, I might get yelled at by the Battle team for saying this but...

For example, you'll be able to purchase this one paladin PVP ability, and its effect changes depending on what grand company you've joined.

Hope you find some of the answers you are looking for and that PvP will be something you will enjoy.

No, that's not a viera, that's one of the PvP reward armors. I think it's just made to look like a mob, and I don't think it's viera. I forget which game I saw something like that, though.

Or they are one of those people that wanted open-world PvP, in which case they'd be a different derogatory reference.

Yeah it seems a bit goofy lol. I mean ranking up to get weaponskills? I think that will prevent people from catching up later in the "season", if it even exists.

Well, With PvP coming in the next few months, I would hope that SE will release better details or even a Vid talking about PvP. Like the one they did for the controller and they duty finder.

I'm curious to try it out, I'm not generally big into PvP (cause I suck ass) but I want to give this a shot.
