Software to record?

Hi, i would like to ask if someone can recommend me a software to record my game so i can upload to you tube.
I'm not doing this in order to make money, i'm doing this so my friends can see us play (they play on ps3)
I tried using fraps, but a 20sec video is more than 1gb!

The size is a byproduct of the quality.

I use FRAPS for everything i record. And yes, the sizes are massive.

My most recent videos, this one took up 141gb and this one took up 240gb. It guarantees decent quality.

And i have the video files for those and about 20 more videos still on my hard drive. That is over 600gb of video data. The above youtube videos are actually just basic quality settings. They arent the highest i COULD have set it.

MSIAfterburner, while 'advertised' as an overclocking utility, also has screenshotting and videocapturing functions... and makes substantially smaller files than Fraps, at equal quality, and with more options you can set. (All accessible in the Settings tab.)
Its only disadvantage is that it does not work if you play in Borderless Window mode, it only records when you play fullscreen.

Once you have captured videos with whatever software you like, I personally recommend Freemake to get it YouTube-ready. It's super simple to use, gives you a lot of options for your output format and size, and you can even do basic cutting and joining of files with it.

OBS (open broadcaster software) is FREE... open source streaming software that can stream your game live, or record locally to your Hard drive (or both if you want)... if you learn about decent video settings you can set the file to be a .mp4 @ 3000kbps for 720p quality that is more than decent... save space and time... save then upload... or like I said stream live so they can watch while you play.

i found this to be way less resource intensive as fraps... also like the customization more than the paid competitor xsplit.

I use twitch.tv/mistrix_ has export to youtube function, has "live watch me play this" function too.

fraps is the best
yes you'll get a very big size for the raw video if you use full size, but you can convert it to get a smaller size
i use virtual dub to encode my 5gb video to 250mb

hey, first off, theres a few out there, fraps imo at the mo has a bit better quality as standard from the get go installation, however i find it a bit more intensive and you do need to invest a new HDD, 1TB will do the trick

theres bandicam, it has a feature where you can use many types of encoders, but its default one is nice enough, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vr0YhJcE_54 is such from recording, and isnt huge files with its mp1 encoder, make sure you have some sort of rendering software to buy, sony movie studio 12 plat HD is pretty good and isnt expensive, i used x.264 encoders to render the video.

check on steam theres also playclaw 5, havent used it though, bandicam does have a trial version, try it
