Endgame gear progression path?

Just want to make sure I have this correct.

Armor: AF --> Darklight --> AF2

Weapon: GC lv50 weapon --> Relic --> Relic+1

Or should I be using 1 star crafted stuff over AF as armor as a fresh 50? Also I hear accuracy is pretty terrible right now and that DL has a lot of it for most classes.

Armor is right but you can get weapons from HM primals, which you have to do anyway for the relic weapon. I would farm Ifrit for a weapon before you go to AK and farm castrum for tokens for darklight gear.

Also try to avoid the idiots spamming for CM speed runs, they will most likely kick you if you are not in full DL gear and relic weapon LOLOLOLO. I would just use the DF, I have done both numerous times and find the DF runs are about 5 mins slower (sometimes faster) and 100% less stressful. Or get some runs together with you FC to farm CM, we have had a ton of fun farming CM in my FC.

This. As awkward as it seems on paper, it is easier to hit up HM Ifrit than complete AK (and unlock your level 50 green GC weapons). Despite what many people would argue, HM Ifrit is doable in AF gear and a decent weapon. If you're a healer, you can get away with AF and a white weapon (especially if people avoid the mechanics).

You also don't require anything special to do Castrum, and in all honesty can just do it instead of worrying about AK/WP. Most of the geared/semi-geared players are doing it for Tokens anyway, so 9/10 you'll probably have a smooth run. This will get you your Darklight Armor/Accessories, and then if you farm your HM Ifrit weapon, you'll have a good enough set to progress endgame.

This does ignore doing AK for your mythology cap (which you can slot in), and the fact that Castrum is boring as hell. :P

Edit: In regards to level 50 weapons, it is probably worthwhile picking up your pre-relic green weapon since they are relatively cheap now, and you'll need it later anyway. I wouldn't go upgrading it the white, unfinished relic item until you get an Ifrit weapon though.

Thanks for the helpful replies. Now another question. I'm leaning towards WHM as a main now and as I'm catching up doing the quests I can definitely see the mana problems I hear everyone talk about. Is it actually wise to put bonus points into piety and favor it on gear/materia or is it still better to just go full mnd and use Shroud intelligently?

Also would the most wanted stats for whm go something like this? MND > Crit > Det > Spell Speed (Is this really worth it at all? 300 speed seems like what .2 off the GCD? Even if you stacked as much of this as you could get it doesn't seem like it would amount to more than half a second) >PIE

Hmm. I'd say pure mind, but I disliked how they turned WHM healing into an RNG based system with freecure. Just main Scholar, it's a lot more fun!

That was my plan but looking at the cnj/whm ablities it seems like whm has was more raw healing output, plus more options for AoE healing. That and I can't seem to get that damn fairy to do what I want. I figured if I "Obey"ed it, it would just spam embrace but it still seems to use whispering dawn without me telling it to.

When I look at the stats on my quad and ... senco? bonded militia gear it looks better than dark light minus the defence (black mage). But its iLevel 55 so does that mean I cant use it even though I sunk a ton of money into for end game?

Depending on your circumstances, you can get armor from Binding Coil long before you'll see most of your AF2.

thing is you need to do Ak to get the gc wep and nobodys going to want you in their ak group if you have anything less so....
