    PS3/PC question

Ok, I have tried searching for this before asking and I cant find anything specific to my question. So here we go.. I have and pay for 3 accounts. One is mine and one each belonging to my two sons. One of my sons plays on a laptop that for some reason runs the game, but shouldnt. Its laggy, but playable. My question is this, if I bought the PS3 version and attached it to my account (because I want to be able to play it on the PS3 as well from time to time) can he still log in on the PS3? I plan on getting the PS4 when it comes out and want to be able to upgrade my account for the PS4 version.

To simplify my question, can my son log in with his account on the ps3 if it is attached to my account? Like you could on the PS2 for FFXI.

Doesn't it still bring up the login launcher when you login? I would imagine you could provided it does. You can always have him try to login on the PS3 with his PC account. If it allows it, you will most likely get the no service account message. If not, it should tell you login info incorrect.

No. The PS3 version will latch on to a single Square Enix account and bind it to the active PSN ID.

I have this issue with my wife - we can BOTH play on the PC client, but the PS3 client service key is tied to her account. For me to play on PS3, I would have to buy the PS3 service again for my own SE account.
Its a royal pain and shouldn't happen this way - Ive already bought 3 copies of the game (PC for me, PC for wife, PS3) yet I still cant play the same game with my same subscription account on both platforms

It was never this way with FFXI - could play PS2, Xbox and PC with one service account...

In response to C-Croft, when you bind the PSN and Square Enix accounts, registering the Final Fantasy XIV service key, Its greys out the username field when using the PSN login. Lord only knows what happens if you want to change PSN accounts - maybe have to unbind it from within the SquEnix account settings? Either way, its kinda dumb seeing as these restrictions aren't in place on the PC :S

bah forgot about the PSN login. thanks for reminding me. I guess it becomes an issue as to how the ps3 treats a second PSN account?

Its definitely due to the PSN account binding implemented by Square Enix. I don't know why any local gamer cant just log in like with EVERY OTHER PS3 GAME! </rant>

(not sure why i'm complaining as it serves me as a good excuse to hog the PC version if I cant play on PS3...)

Subsequent PS3 user with their own SEN account is treated independently from the primary PS3 user/SEN account. So effectively add another PS3 user account and attach new SEN account, and add the PS3 game license to this SEN which then can be linked to SQEX. With another copy of PS3 game license, you're effectively getting 30 days game time, not so much for the game client - as it is already installed.

It works out expensive when the PS3 game is around £25 and 180 days of game time is only £35
