What is going on with these graphics?

I would try a reinstall of the game, if that doesn't help, then something is up with your card.

yes, but it's kinda annoying to do that considering on page 5 of my retainer...EVERYTHING IS A BLANK ICON. So while hovering is a temporary solution, I need it fixed. Why does ffxiv not have a file check? yeeshums. >_<

I agree, quite annoying. Unfortunately, I'm not at home, or I would check to see if its happening on my PC as well.

With the missing icons, i would have said bad icon files, but since there is the graphical error as well. It may be like what the others have said. It may be a GPU issue.

Another question though. Does the issue occur for all instances of the same items?

I can't speak about this, but it looks similar to what started happening to me in FFXI (except it did it to my whole screen). FFXI had worked fine for me for over a year, I had a built in crappy graphics card and it just started dying one day and doing that to me regularly. Once I upgraded and got more RAM it fixed itself. I'm going to go with graphics card might be dying or drivers as most likely, I dont think it would be the game itself so reinstalling probably wont change anything.

hq and nq seem to be different icons, cuz nq maplelogs show up fine, but hq it's like PIXEL EXPLOSION. Tried zoning as you can tell, and still have that weird issue...

Oh god...I'm hoping it's a driver issue cuz yeah, I know it's not the game. Reinstalling is a "last resort" kind of thing.
