    A serious question to SE

Why is it that we have a limited amount of times that we can post in other sections of the forum, and yet Gil spammers aren't limited in any way in-game? Would you pay attention to it if they were spamming their advertisements on this forum instead of in-game? Would that garner your attention? Would that cause you to put much more effort into fixing the problem? This issue should not have been able to go on for this long, and the fact that the forums are moderated more than the game itself is a joke, and not even a funny one.

We do not need restrictions on in game chat. That isn't a solution.

Just make sure you report gil sellers and blacklist them.

SE have banned 1000s of accounts in the past - they will be doing a mass ban soon.

To blacklist a player you have to go into the menu, select the option and type the player/players names. This is quite tricky when the players are called rrfojheyguehf and wdine8ehgefj467nhefj and the posts are flying. Makes 'em quite hard to catch! So.. how about an option to blacklist under tell and trade and stuff like that?

The easiest way I have found to click on the names is I open my chat window all the way up and then click their name. After that, click send tell then add that name to the blist. I know it's a pain but until there is a fix, it is what I have found works for me. I do find it comical that they spam so fast that no one really has a chance to see their hackurl anyways..lol

The craziest thing is that you can copy and paste the player name from chat into the player name box for blacklisting. But then it doesn't add it to the list. So as stated you're forced to type it out. Horrible programming.

Don't take this wrong or anyone else here suggesting to block but here's the thing though. [No offense to anyone here.]
Okay, I don't want to be blocking because it's a massive waste of time and energy. On PS3, it's a pissfest because they spam so hard, I can't see the names.
Solution; Right-click or Square button has Blacklist added. I'm not going to manually type out names here. Even then, I just don't wanna BL them all the time.
To add to that, they regenerate en mass. Useless to block at this point, also I paid to play the game, not deal with flooding Gil Spammers, ALL THE TIME, EVERYDAY AND NIGHT. Inb4 "Well they are in every MMO." Most F2P MMO's sure.
We can't even have fun in cities and chat or help new people in cities and it's deterring people.
I mean they spam SERIOUSLY on here. It is not my job to be playing Gilock Holmes and snuff out the dang sellers and report them. They are also hacked accounts too. Paying people, are being hacked because of this. We're reporting innocent players here too.
I mean this is getting pretty damn serious and must be a fix fast. When they start diggin' in peoples accounts, somethings in the mist.

It's not a final solution. But it would be a huge step in that direction. Something like this would seriously take .. an hour to actually code, then a quick 10 min maintenance to apply it to the server software?

Why should I have to go through the trouble of blacklisting 10-20 gil spammers each day? That's not what I consider a quality of life addition to the game. Leaving things as is and just saying "Blacklist them" isn't a solution. Even if they added a right-click "add to blacklist and report" option to the chat, that still wouldn't be what I would consider an ideal "Final" solution. I'd still be forced to blist 10-20 of these a day, and as I said that adds nothing to my gameplay value except a daily annoyance, an unnecessary chore. I'm looking for a SOLUTION from SE that eliminates them from spamming chat in the first place. I'm starting to notice a trend with some of the players who post on these forums. They'll literally accept ANYTHING no matter what it is and not demand change from SE no matter what that ANYTHING may be that they're accepting. SE could begin a policy where they delete your character for no reason every time you reach level 50 on it and these same people would accept that too and reply to anyone asking for change "It adds replay value to the game, just level up again."

So this is what I feel like SE should do. Are they going to? I doubt it, but hey! Why not try to put in my two cents, too.
Option 1) Do what you did in FFXI. Set up a team dedicated to nothing else other than banning gil sellers. You did it then, why not do it again? It worked pretty well there.
Option 2) Make it so using /shout and /yell have a minimum required level. Maybe 15, maybe 20, hopefully not 10 because then you could do it within thirty minutes and it's not really as worth-while.
Option 3) Mediate your naming structure better so that the names Biyknwerg Leflargaaienon and such aren't even allowed.
Option 4) Make it so that the same or similar messages cannot be typed more than once every thirty seconds to a minute. This helps with two things. One, it stops gil sellers. Two, it stops people who just set up a macro for spamming invites to parties from doing that. Not gonna lie, I can blacklist gil sellers, but annoying people who are actually trying to play the game also exist, and those hurt me because I don't want to ignore them.

The main issue there is that without surgical mouse precision you will get a space after the last letter of the last name. After you paste the name into the BLIST area, hit backspace to kill the extra space and bam!
