Omg yes getting into voice chat with some random asshole who is going to tell me to skip cutscenes is EXACTLY what I wanna do. I'm sorry but a lot of people find jumping into voice chat with strangers to be really awkward. This is getting off topic now sry...
It takes 2 minutes to setup, and it is nice. It's easy to communicate who's doing what. someone dies, healers can quickly decide what's going on. You can call enemy abilities, give a heads up, and if you play on a PS3 or with a PS3 controller you don't need to type on a keyboard.
I play FF14 on my MS Surface Tablet with a PS3 controller when I'm on the ferry (2hrs). i'm not going to type messages :\

I wish you were on my server, because we get Prae groups together every few days or so. We totally watch the cutscenes, too.I just did Castrum today and I have to agree. "Luckily" no one from that group got angry at me in the chat, but anyway it has been the worst experience that I've had in ARR to date.
I said that it was my first time before starting, and I never stopped watching my cutscenes, anyway, but after finishing each one of them the group was miles ahead already, to the point that I even had cutscenes chain themselves. The only one that helped me a bit and waited for me (or came back so that I didn't pull all the crap that they left on the way) was the other tank, and he explained me the tactics. Even so, I didn't even have time to ask any questions or ask for clarification, as as soon it was explained they pulled and I had to rush into the midst of battle (and I know that I did a terribad job partly because of that, because of being my first time, and because I was nervous for everything, but at least we didn't wipe). Stressful as hell, and even if I watched the cutscenes I didn't enjoy them at all because I knew what I would find after finishing them.
Note that I was the second tank. I don't even want to know what would had happened if I had been just a dps, and from what I read that was not their first speedrun that afternoon, too, so I assume I wasn't the first one to suffer that same group. I'll never, NEVER, do that. If someone says that they're new I'm not going to move my ass from where they stand until they end doing whatever they need to do in the dungeon.
But well, I have put Praetorium on hold just because of that run, and I've been levelling other jobs since then. I'm afraid, and not willing, to find myself into another speedrun group u.u
Edit: We finished the dungeon with 80 something minutes left, by the way.
Well, there's no need whatsoever for Mumble or Vent to do Prae or Castrum. None at all.

This kind of thing aggravates me so much. Typically in most games I play I am a healer, but in ARR summoner was released which is my fav FF role so I picked SMN as my main. I don't want to be in a situation where I wait an hr or more for DF to find me a party, excited to finish the story and find out what happens and boom, speed run. And sure I can just follow along as a DPS perfectly fine, but now I'm losing the enjoyment from just experiencing the dungeon. Its even worse when not only are you losing that, but you are being harassed into it and you have to take it or spend another 1-2 hrs in DF. -__-
Speed runs are all good and well...but if you are gonna do it in DF, give a warning, teach some folk, and for the love of Twelve be nice to your party! (Though that should be the case in any dungeon lol) So many people just expect people to know everything, but how to you learn unless you try it out or are taught? Not everyone is going to look up a guide on every dungeon and what routes are optimal. That takes away from the experience. And while yeah the tank/healer holds a decent amount of power and can just tell everyone to fuck off, no one wants to deal with that crap, over and over again. People need to learn to chill out and be sensible about this.
At the end of the day all it takes is a little communication and everyone can go about things happy. And isnt that what everyone wants? lol
This is going to end up what I start doing once I can get my WHM to catch up to my SMN lol
When my FC has to use the DF to get members for an 8 man we're all in Mumble/Vent. So to keep people in the loop, we invite them. If they're not there, they miss 90% of what's going on and they get confused. Yes, we tell them what the plan is on text, but it's not the same.

Thank you
Anyway, that's what I was going to do once I forget about that run. I'll just look for 7 more players in my own server and everyone's happy. But I feel sorry because that means one tank less on the DF, but oh well...

If I'm watching a CS and you have a problem call the waaaaambulance and save us all the trouble.
If you want to speedrun then build groups on your server/FC/LS and do them.

I watch cutscenes and when they left me out the boss fight I said thank you for the easy win have a nice day.
This is Square's fault for making a story dungeon a spot to grind for tomes. People wouldn't be speed running it and ruining the first experience of others if it wasn't the best place for farming philosophy.

I got pretty lucky, Just did my CM run for Story, and while the team did run ahead when the battle was over, I never got locked out of a Battle and Enjoyed the Cutscenes. They were all petty decent too except maybe the SMN who was a tad impatient, though he never lashed out about it you could tell he was a tad peeved... but I imagine he didn't last out cause in that case its basically "Go ahead and leave, Queue up for an hour you'll be replaced in 30 seconds".
Shame of being a DD is you have 0 pull over anything cause you can be replaced so easily.
