And for DRG, he has also to use it's reduce CD otherwise he is overaggroing like us in some extent. .... This is NOT a correct value metter and this is not a DPS metter but an AGGRO metter which has NEVER been any correct measurement for damage / DPS list.
Except that various similary geared DRG told me they have troubles to catch up with me. That's when deliberately TRYING to outaggro me.
And for the other one, some damage are not avoidable and "if" we do more damage than DRG, I repeat, he brings 10% bonus damage to bard, this is enough for us not to be selected and if you are, mates are just not optimal.
The devs admitted BRD is dishing out too much damage, after they get nerfed, the boost from DRG will be there to balance it out again. Current situation is not indicative.

And if you speak about Mantra, let me laugh about this useless advantage because of sudden death and spike damage tanks take. I'm not kind of monk to say that "everything is perfect", that's all I want to tell, cause it's not the truth ! And while I'm playing good and sky rocketting at DPS and FC is satisfied with me, we can't afford not to think in optimal way as I'm doing comparing DRG and MNK (for example). Don't forget we have only 8 slots in raid for 9 job (at least atm) and we bring "nothing" raid wise.
Remove buffs from enemies, heal ourselves (exactly after those unavoidable spike damage you mention), mantra might not save the tank but it will make healers waste less MP healing the rest of the group (again, after unavoidable spike damage). If you think about damage only, sure, DRG gives bards a good buff.

What they could do is make one-ilm punch be more useful by making more encounters where removing a buff is heavily weighted. But that will only result in MNK becoming mandatory for that encounter, and as much as I like playing MNK I'm not in favor of skewing the class balance so much. And even then, people will still use the excuse of DRG buffing BRDs to get a DRG + x BRD for a safer encounter. No worries about position, just pew pew pew.
