replied to thread in general but might as well reply here as well....

Would like haymaker to be taken off the gcd and given a 30 sec recast timer with a small damage potency and instead of slow inflict a silence (makes more sense seeing as how a haymaker would silence you up real quick =P)

If monk is weak then every single person I have played with is a complete and total failure at their class.

The one real issue I see with Monk is True Strike being nearly worthless because of the SS required to use it without losing dps. Seems odd to me that our level 2 ability is almost unusable.

Not sure if it's been mentioned or not but change Aotd to act like SMN's Bane skill where it spreads our ToD and Demolish

People keep talking about this worlds best DD doing 400-500DPS and there is no possible way to do that much DPS no matter what class you are. Aside from doing L3 LB which greatly alter's your DPS and shouldn't be counted. Outside of LB's and AOE there is no one doing 400-500dps single target. I can do right about 240-250dps as a MNK on last boss of AK just standing there burning away. I have 3peice Myth gear Relic+1 allagan ring rest is DL/Gryphonskin so my gear is pretty good. I would really like to know where people are pulling these number's from cause they simply will not exist in a normal single target fight.

The best thing I've found to go off of when people are trying to quote other players or their own DPS in an mmo is "Screenshots or it didn't happen." Not to say DPS aren't hitting higher numbers than you're quoting, but typically quotes of insane numbers come from insane people.

The amount of times I've gone into a party and had someone say "Wow at first I doubted you but you're first Monk I've seen DPS properly with the job" Shows me our Monk population really needs to get busy and better. Thanks to Noctis and the other good Monks stepping forward I don't really need to say anything that hasn't been said.

I would however like to reiterate a point Noctis just made, A bad monk will perform worse than a bad Drg, or a bad Brd, like wise a good Monk will outperform everyone on DPS.

Even though I play Monk , I get pretty weary if I have a random Monk I don't know in the party, and usually the DPS they put out isn't really that great. This is a problem, but not a problem with a job. It's a problem with the skill level of people on Monk.

We don't need any tweaks, we need a community guide.

Also, Monk isn't rotation based, It's priority and decision making. That's why no one can settle on a "best" rotation.

Mnk - High Skill cap, High execution entry barrier
Drg - High Skill cap, Medium Entry barrier
Brd - Medium Skill cap, Very low Entry barrier
Smn - Medium Skill cap , Medium Entry Barrier
Blm - Low Skill cap - Low Entry Barrier

I disagree; I find the Monk to be extremely simple to play compared to the Dragoon. Essentially the Monk only needs to track the two DOTs -- but more importantly they only need to track them at the last second or two seconds.

A Dragoon on the other hand needs to track CT >6 seconds ahead of time, and track boss mechanics ~3-4 seconds ahead of time for jumps, not to mention general tracking of Heavy Thrust and Phlebotomize.

Playing a MNK takes literally half my attention compared to playing a DRG. I find that I'm spending half the fights scratching my chin wondering where I should use an optimal Mantra, or what mechanics I can facetank with Fists of Earth to eek out more DPS.

I personally find everything in this game to be relatively simple. But i'm not using how I feel about the classes as a comparison, I'm just comparing them to each other, you find dragoon harder. But everyone tracks DoT's and debuffs/buffs, that's not really anything specific to one class. Track boss mechanics? Everyone should learn the boss mechanics regardless of class. Knowing when to pop CD's and not too. That also is not specific to dragoon.

What you just posted is how you should be playing every class, Tracking DoTs, learning mechanics, Knowing when to use a skill off the GCD and when to pop a CD. Absolutely none of that aside from the skill names is specific to dragoon.

The only thing that makes Monk more difficult at least IMO, is if a skill disconnects you can lose GL 3, so that requires some thought and execution. If you lag on Dragoon and lose a buff or disconnect on a buff skill. You can just use the skill again to get the buff back, Monk only really has it that easy for Twin Snakes.

The rest of the games classes are pretty basic. The only two classes even decently challenging to an average player should be Monk and Dragoon. I'd say Dragoon having such a long rotation and position requirements come first as a Difficulty barrier, where as the MMO basics you mentioned are part of every class.

With Monk it's GL3 Upkeep, and position requirements, along with the same MMO basics of buff/dot/debuff upkeep.

Either way you look at it every single class in the game is simple MMO basics and reading your skills. DRG and MNK just happen to be more difficult in comparison since they actually require a bit of reflex.
