Is it worth leveling a warrior currently?

I have a level 30 warrior atm, and I enjoy the class a lot. I've played a bit of gladiator and I can't really stand the class; it feels stagnant compared to marauder/war so far.

My question is, I have other classes I'm also interested in (Arc/Dragoon), is it still within a reasonable window of time that warriors will receive the modifications to their mechanics to make them more competitive with paladin, or should I level an alternate class for now and come back to warriors when they do receive the adjustments they need?

The class is a lot of fun by itself, but I also made it so that I could tank. I enjoy its higher DPS, but if I can't tank main boss content later I may as well just play a dedicated DPS class/

I'm a WHM and prefer healing PLD in most cases, but if you play Warrior right you can out tank any PLD I've seen. I've had Warriors make me second guess my preference because they tanked so amazingly but you need to use your abilities appropriately. Just keep up with it, especially if you like it. It's worth it, trust me.

Also, crossclasses. Pick up all crossclass skills you can use from GLD and PUG, and i think DRG. It makes a huge difference. PLD have to get crossclasses to stay competitively good as well, so don't think it's just you that has to while they get it easy.

I'm in the same boat as you OP. My warrior is currently 40 and after looking around in forums I'm starting to 2nd guess my class choice. :\

Manage your CDs and get to know fights. Know when the boss is about to slam you with a big hit. I like to pop IB right after a big hit and then infuriate after that to get back my stacks to help the healer out. Good burst up in healing incase the boss hits you with another melee swing or anything right after.

No reason to not level warrior, I plan to level PLD as well since I can use all the same gear anyways during level before I convert it all. It's all preference and you cant base things on forum topics. There are FC's out there doing Coil with WAR tanks, do they struggle more then FCs doing it with PLDs? Maybe, but even if it IS tougher, why not? Keeps people playing better.

@OP - My advice would be to continue to level what you enjoy. I thoroughly enjoy my warrior and I'm going to continue to play it. If we were to "re-roll" because we are not the "flavor of the month" you'll never reach end-game to actually see how it is. Maybe PLD is superior right now, but next month or next patch, who knows? I play with a good group of friends and if I have at OT, so be it we still got the job done as a team. That's what it's all about.

@Riko - I have obviously not done any end game or HM content as of yet. However I have several healers in my FC who love to run with me tanking as a warrior. You have to keep your priorities right and be smart about your skills and from what I've seen I can do well in most situations thus far. Now this is of course the 4 man dungeons coming up through the story but I'm happy.

Moral of the story - Don't let what folks are saying get ya down on what you want to play. Just my $.02. Take it for what it's worth and game on!

PLD has a much lower skill cap (Until shield bashing is the difference between a wipe and not, at least), and they're also much easier to heal on average.

I'm positive an exceptional WAR can tank fine, and would only be considered poor when compared to an exceptional Paladin.

My personal advice based solely off my opinion? Keep with WAR if you like it and don't plan on doing CoB anytime soon. Roll a PLD if you do.

I enjoy leveling a warrior way more than a paladin even though I've always been the sword and board kind of guy. It just gets me a lot more thrilled to see my HP going up and down quickly instead of "oh it's about to hit me, better hit that oh shit button and nullify most of the damage" kind. I do plan on taking my Warrior to 50 and beyond but right now, focusing on getting my monk there.

There's no skill involved in playing PLD. You literally have one combo chain (which already debuffs the boss for you), very good passive mitigation, and very good cooldowns. People love to underestimate Sword Oath, but it provides comparable damage to Maim, should you be the off-tank or off-DPS.

As much as i hate too, i agree with this. Its a simpe 123 rotation with a few pff gcd attacks. Its knowing when to pop the def buffs that is the only part that requirres some planning, aside from stun bot duties. I like using sword oath when being in a good position aggro wise.

Im right on the threshold for 50 on pld so after im gonna try put warrior. To see what i like petter gameplay wise.

I enjoyed the leveling process as a WAR, but If you have the choice and want to do endgame content go with the PLD for now. There is little sense in spending the time and gil to gear up a less viable class.
