That would not work. Most jerks don't care if they are hurt as long as they can bring down 3 or 7 other players with them.I totally agree. having a participation reward system where your contribution to the group is reflected on how good or how much of a reward you'll get. so just standing there doing nothing in an instance, you'll be hurting yourself in the long run. adding a kick feature or not adding one its like dealing with a double edged sword. your not going to please everyone. Square Enix needs to look at it as "How can we make things fair for all players across the board"

We had someone go afk in castrum right after the first boss. Didn't say and word and, of course, stayed until the end. Never moved or anything. Reporting effects can take hours and we weren't about to stop at the final boss waiting as long as we could just in case. There absolutely needs to be a kick function.

They should just have an auto kick/replace on it. E.g. design a contribution algorithm to all the content in the dungeon. E.g. say there's a trash pack of 4 mobs. If someone stands there and does nothing for that trash pack they get a contribution value of 0, and those that generated enimity (tanking/healing/dps) get a contribution value of 1. If someone gets a 0, give them an onscreen warning (Your contribution was 0, 4 more and you will be kicked). Then if they are still afk for 4, kick them and bring in someone else.
Secondly I think if someone gets kicked or leaves, the dungeon should be scaled to match. Sometimes people leave and no one joins back because people uncheck the join runs in progress box. So if a DPS leaves and it's a 4 dps dungeon, then the bosses and trash should have their HP scaled down my 25% or so to allow the run to succeed with 7 people, 3 dps 2 tanks 2 healers. If a healer leves then stuff should do less dmg. The second someone joins, it should be unscaled. Optionally they could give the group buffs to compensate call it the "Man Down Buff" and have it stack for each person missing. Healers get more healing power, tanks get hp buff/enimity buff, dps gets dmg multiplier. They would need to balance this on a tight rope.

Id rather see a cross server blist function so I wont have to party with them ever again.

Unfortunately, it won't be easy to program for. Even more people are on your blacklist, more harder to get in DF. You might need to get kicked out of queues so you don't have to waste their time for someone you won't party with.

What about the whole watch vs. skip cutscenes? If someone wants to watch their cutscene then i can see this being abused to kick that person.
There are even people who openly talk about locking the person out of the boss fight on purpose because they don't skip the scene. This would be one more tool for people to use towards implementing their will against others. So maybe a kick/vote system is not the best solution.
There appears to be several good suggestions in this thread that should make everyone happy.

Did you at least report him?
I don't play MMO's normally so there could be a technical term for this but what if there's some sort of feedback/rating system. People give a score or like a thumb up or thumb down (positive or negative) and can add a comment--then when the duty finder finds all the members, you can have a minute or two to review the members and decide whether you want to proceed with that party. That way, you'll know ahead of time whether to do the duty with that person instead of having a "kick" feature.

I hope a Dev/Mod will come in here and at least explain that they are working on way to address this problem.
Here's my though.... the person who chooses to not join in the battles and help thru out the mission would be a risk of losing his current Tomes on him which would be divided between everyone else in the party who did play the game, including the 100 Tomes he would have gotten for beating the final boss. Those points will also bedivided among those that took play in the battle

I don't know why people automatically assume a vote-to-kick option would be abused to kick the undergeared.
In my worst experience, Tera for example, the 15man battlegrounds. Occasionally a player would pop up with incredibly low item level. Think L30/40 white/green gear at L60. Or a 60 would put on low level gear as a joke (not the reflect types.) Or someone would prevent the afk auto-kick by running into a wall so they could get the other 14 people to carry them to their points. Members would repeatedly try to kick them, but there's always that one person who goes "NO that would be mean ;_; " Being THAT undergeared, you are helping nothing. Purposely trying to make your team lose, or being afk expecting a carry, I don't know why anyone wouldn't kick them.
Far more often people abuse the fact that a vote-to-kick system doesn't exist or is flawed, rather than dicks abusing it because you aren't "overgeared" for an instance.
