Why Darklight Cowl?

This design decision completely screws over casters.

If you buy the AF2 chest as a caster, you're stuck with the Amdapor helm or lower for 2 weeks until you get the AF2 helm.

Meanwhile every other damn class that's not a caster gets to mix and match pieces without getting screwed over by upgrades.

Only tanks suffer from this, and at least they get to use 2 Darklight rings while casters get stuck with 1 because they made the stats separate and the rings unique.

2. Tanks don't get 2 darklight rings any more than casters do, they can use a tanking ring and a dps ring - just like a caster can use a caster ring and a tanking ring

neither is optimal.

dragoons and monks are the only classes that have two proper options for darklight rings.

that's not to say that there aren't tanks running around in str jewelry, but those are the same tanks that put their attribute bonus into str/dex and have a hard time surviving titan's mountain busters

What if he isn't up to that stage in content/doesn't expect to be for awhile?

I think the important thing here is highlighting the fact that the itemization is pretty horrible (although I think the cowls are hot :P). Both the cowl and tank armor could have been broken up into two separate pieces.

Aye I would get AF2 before relic, you have a higher chance of defeating Ifrit with AF2 anyway.

AF2 is an upgrade of 2x +20iLvLs for the price of a relic +1, which only provides 1x +10iLvls.

I just think both the cowl and the heavy armor look really ugly. If they worked with /visor, it would be a bit better.

The upgrade of a relic+1 for a summoner is not that great. You get like 4 int and 3 more weapon damage, and to top it off Veil of Wiyu has garbage spell speed.

The Summoner's AF2 chest on the other hand provides a whopping 13 int over Demagogue, and most importantly replaces the useless spell speed stat for much more useful spell crit.


The Darklight Cowl is also terribly itemized, wasting a bunch of its budget on accuracy which is largely useless for a caster.
