    Mining & Logging

Just came back into the game. Just wondering if the mining and botany are still the same as 1.0 or how do we rank these up now?

In general, the harvestable nodes are found in small clusters. You get four whacks at a node. Bonus exp is given for multiple successful hits. Only certain harvestable items are found in certain places (general foot note on the "where" is in the mining/botany log). Every five levels will display the next "tier" of harvestable goods (levels 1, 6, 11, etc).

Sweet, thanks.. that helps a bunch. just been searching areas for places and not finding any? I guess you're saying they found in small clusters or just looking in wrong spots?

You won't see them at all unless you are currently switched to the class in question. And you'll only see them on the mini-map if you have its level one skill active (at level two, you get a trait to automatically activate that skill whenever you switch to the class).

Nodes are in clusters around certain areas. Your gathering log for each class can give you a rough idea of where to go for each level. look at the individual items, and they'll give the level of the nodes you'll find that item in, and a general location for it.

At level 3, you'll get Lay of the Land, which will point you to the nearest nodes from a very long distance away. Then things become much faster.

Best thing to do is to look in the gathering log. It basically holds your hand telling you where to go and what level each item is. If you don't find something in the log then you aren't high enough to harvest it. The log will update every 5 levels so you know where to go next. Field craft leves are a must unless you like grinding for even more hours than you already have to.
