For those who run into this error from time to time, there is a possible solution for this which does not require you to re-install or replace the boot files. Keep in mind this solution is for those who are running into the issue because of an internet issue. Meaning that if your net went down or your router had a hiccup, this will rectify the issue for those users. There are different codes that follow the version check error, all of them meaning different things, ie, there are different reasons for getting this same error. If this does not work for you that doesn't mean it won't work for others who are having the error show up for a different reason. So give this a try and see if it fixes it.

Windows users:

Step 1: If you have a router, unplug your router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in, if you do not have a router, then unplug your cable modem for 30 seconds and plug it back in
Step 2: Wait about 30 seconds and then locate the small computer looking icon in the bottom right corner of your screen, this is the network connection icon (it may look different on your screen, if so hover over the icons on the bottom right corner of your screen until you find the one that says "network connection" or just "network"
Step 3: Right click on the icon mentioned in step 2 and select "Troubleshoot problems"
Step 4: Wait for it to fully complete, it should attempt to fix the problems, usually by resetting the network adapter. When it tells you the problem is fixed, then exit out of it
Step 5: Try and load the game again, if you were getting the error because of something going on with your internet connection then this should have fixed it, if not, then you've probably got something else causing the issue
