That's one of my main contentions, they will not make a Red Mage who can both DPS and heal, not going to happen. They had the opportunity with SCH, they are also a BLM and WHM class.

FFXIV version of Support is the BRD right now. So just how much support would the RDM have?

I mean weak token heal. I don't see Red Mage being a healer at all. Why would you give them a sword if they're not going to use it?.

Cause they can enchant it!!

SCH has heals with pet heals... RDM can have heals and instead of pet, cast group procs, reverse damage shields, debuffs, lots of stuff!

No thanks, I'd rather they spend resources fixing the classes they already have before adding something new and likely broken to the game. War and Sch need to be brought up to par before they add new classes. Also, I am amazed you have the nerve to ask for a new healer based class with the way you cockblock sch threads..

I did say I think Red Mages should start out as Fencers. When I say Fencer, I mean something like the FFTA Viera class that has debuff-inflicting sword attacks. I have several problems with your retort of enchanting swords though. Firstly, it's a Mystic Knight trait, not a Red Mage trait, secondly, changing the elements of attacks is not much of a perk considering the lack of extreme resistances in this game, and lastly, If Red Mages are supposed to be casters, why are you going to let your Red Mage stand with the Monks and Dragoons. If you don't make them melee DDs, the sword is rendered decorative by role design. They deserve a heal skill/spell, but they should be a DD with a weak heal perk.

I assume at some point the Conj + Thaum option will be RDM.

They really need to fix the scholar issues before making another healer, imo.

However, I do like the idea of a healer that gives group proc buffs and weapon enchants....and the armor... so stylish..

Oh, how I would like to be able to give group lifestealing procs or elemental procs, while dpsing... and being able to heal... and wearing a fabulous hat....

I would love to see another healer type like a Warpriest/DoK from Warhammer Online. Those were seriously fun healing classes.
