Red Mages are obviously better off as support/melee damage dealers in a game like this. They probably deserve an underpowered, instant-cast, melee combo-finisher AOE Heal (and cross-class CNJ), but other than that, they shouldn't really take a healer role. They can have some party buffs though. I envision a melee damage dealer Fencer (with Intelligence being their weapon damage stat) with a few damage spells that have a chance to be instant cast triggered by melee combos.
