Touche. The prefix of [NA] in the title caused me to overlook it, when it was actually about the [JP] servers. I will insert foot in mouth here. Cuz blaming others (SE in this case) for your own mistakes is the Staple in Maturity examples right?! Pot/Kettle!!! etc etc. Don't be so quick next time and maybe others wont be so quick to rip you apart?!

You failed to log in and pick a server weeks upon weeks before Phase 4, and thats SE's Service issues?! Love this argument. "You weren't following the game everyday until launch, then when you log into a JP server and you can't transfer you complain? You're dumb!" I'm sorry. I really can't see where you're coming from. Sure all the fanboys from 1.0 would be following the game very closely and wouldn't miss a beat. Everyone else didn't care enough about beta from 1.0, probably because we played 'beta' for years, and were waiting for launch/P4 before checking the game out and making a choice to play or not. Did I get a server transfer email? Yea I'm pretty sure I did some where back in June or something. Did I care? No, because I wasn't playing the game nor did I have contact with the people that I played with in 1.0 to make a decision on where to transfer to. So I check out the game in P4 and find out that the server is maybe 5% NA and the rest JP and I can't transfer anymore. The only people left in my ls's are the ones that missed the server transfer because they weren't following the game.

Please go on about how I was the foolish one here to expect server transfers at launch. I'd really like a good read.

I can read, thanks. However I need to know that there's something for me to read before I can start doing so.

The game had an archived forum, a beta forum, a lodestone 1.0, a lodestone 2.0, a product website, an account management website, a registration website that required one type of registration key in order to provide you with a different type of key that had to be input into yet another different website... this game hasn't exactly been known the organization of its web presence, or the ease of finding what people are looking for, even when they KNOW that there's something to look for.

Then to expect people to know that they need to be looking at all of the game's different locations online, just in case there happened to appear a limited time offer... while the game's official service was offline, and had already been offline for several months? Just saying that you can't be too surprised by how this news slipped past so many people.

Yes, it was an easy thing to do if you knew the details about it. Yes, it may have even been easy to find those details if you knew to look for it. But the data suggests that nearly a quarter of players were never even made aware that there was anything to look for.

Calling me a fanboy? Far from I'm usually first to voice my opinion on something SE does thats completely and utterly stupid. This however wasn't. You got the Emails. You had the common knowledge from V1 pre-ARR info, and yet still failed to do that simple click click BOOM done?

I'm betting if SE offered a free Minion, when clicking a link in said email to pick your new Server's they'd be probably 90% less of this "It's SEs fault I'm lazy" whines with regards to being locked on a Server you didn't wanna be on.

Oceanic ping to Japanese servers is literally half that of EU/NA servers.

There are HUGE numbers of English-speaking players on Japanese realms.

All maintenance-related communication must be communicated in English along with Japanese. This one may have had a message with an [NA] prefix, but the vast majority of prior maintenances, and all of them that have only affected the JP servers, have not been addressed in English forums.

You'd check info about this, which did indeed offer Server Transfers at soft launch (Open Beta/Early Access is generally referred to as a Soft Launch.) You can't blame SE because you chose not to keep up with info. I mean please be realistic, why did you choose not to keep up with info about the game you planned to play? You had a month to do a server transfer application basically - you're telling me during the entire half year of beta for ARR you never looked into it once or even information about it..? They emailed every one who played 1.0 about server transfers, if you posted even once on lodestone forums, you got an email because you played till at least level 2 even if you quit a week later, you got an email as a previous FFXIV player.

lol. Did you completely miss out on the whole part where there wasn't a way to contact your 1.0 friends so basically you're going to blind transfer to a NA server ditching your friends or wait for P4/launch to see where you'd like to transfer? Oh my bad. Should have ditched the people I played the game with for years instead. Also expecting a world transfer service at launch, within the first couple weeks, was a ridiculous expectation for a 2013 MMO. Oh my bad again. And don't forget the 20 people who I know from my ls's who all are in the same boat. Add to that the rest of the NA population on my server from 1.0 (5%~ of 750k people to just get a ball park number) and that gives you 37.5k people that can't transfer to a NA server right now.

Thanks for the good read of trying to justify something completely ridiculous. Helping me wake up this Monday morning with all the laughs.

I didn't follow any of FFXIV until August after my summer semester was over. Prior to that I had a fishing tournament on May 18th and was taking 12 credits over the summer, including engineering math, dynamics, strength of materials and prob stat for engineers. No. Keeping up with beta was not on my list of concerns with that kind of course load. The final date for a server transfer was on July 15th. A month~ before P4 even started where I could speak to my friends about where to move to. How about the people who randomly see "Hey XIV relaunched finally, lemme go check it out since the client is a free download. Oh hey, I'm on a purely JP server now? No server transfer? Forget this.".

I had no issues contacting my friends on Skype, MSN and LS Forums...?

Sorry, these are people who live who knows where and I only contact them through ingame chat. We don't skype and 1.0 difficulty was so lol that there was no need for a forums. Same deal with the people I play in game with now. No forums yet. No emails. We talk in game and have a vent. It's not like I have people emails and phone numbers to call when I'm looking to do a CM run.
