Paladins ADD pickup in CM?

While running CM last night I was off-tanking and picking up the adds in boss fights.
Is it normal to not be tanking every single mob? It kind of seems impossible due to the rate of damage that the dps is doing to them.
So basically I was just rounding them all up and stacking them and attempting to hold agro on as many as possible.

Of course I was grabbing and holding threat on the large single adds. I am asking about the large groups of smaller adds.

How do other Paladin tanks handle this?

can't do anything about it really specially when dark light heroes who spam it for the 100 tomes show hell I do it on bard all the time. I was in a party once and had only 600 less HP than main tank.

Flash spam + scorn, and rampart so healers don't need to spam you with heals and pull additional aggro. Try to mark one or two in the process so dps can focus those, and be the only mobs you need to focus threat on. Once they're close to dying mark the next set and repeat, reapply another flash or two on the cluster to keep hate. The only time this is difficult for me is if the dps does their own thing and proceeds to focus down the non marked targets, in which case I let them tank it and pull hate back once they die.

Oh, i was thinking if MT tanks the boss, close to one doors so he can grab one pack, and i position myself to the other doors (so i can grab them quick), then just go to the MT and the group could aoe them down (?). But the again you risk of loosing mobs, since 8 of them will be in a group.

Im just tired of stupid comments to paladins, that were bad tanks -.-

Since i posted this I have run CM probably around 25+ times over the weekend. I have discovered that my Ifrit weapon really helps with threat. And figured out its pretty easy to keep the mobs sorta grouped, and not to care about who they are hitting. Only that they are grouped up to be aoe'd down.

Only time I have ever been called a bad tank, is the few times I have refused to tank a boss after some DPS has pulled agro before I can even land a 2nd attack. Ill just stand there and /dance while letting them tank it.

I second that... Even if I start with Shield Lob, a heavy hitter goes ahead and uses his most damaging skill and grab the boss.... Then im like "WTF? LEMME AGGRO FIRST".

But on CM, 80% of the ppl are doing speed runs (CM is the new AK) for the tomes, so it doesnt matter much, as long as they are grouped to be AoEd down. What I like to do is MT the boss (specially with a WAR , since IMO they are better at keeping AoE aggro) or when I OF, i just turn Fight or Flight (if ready), then Flash, Scorn, and keep spamming Flash. I wont always have all the mobs on me, but if I have at least 60% of the adds atacking me, is good enough.
