Your logic needs work, if you're going to call people idiots for not knowing their gear isn't good enough then you're an elitist. You can't deny it, that is what this analogy states.

There's a HUGE difference between playing stupidly and simply not having the gear required to play.

Difference with your analogy would be that said player joining the football team came to play without a helmet and pads, does that prevent him from playing? No, but it'll hurt a lot more. And that's his choice to make, not yours.

And with regards to the post you made after this about "It's just a game" yeah, exactly right. Which is why you should stop crying about it and let people play how they want to play, elitist.
