Unable to download patch [11003][20403] - MyDocuemnts folder on a network drive

One of the PC's I want to play the game on has its MyDocuments folder mapped to a network drive instead of the actual hard drive and this appears to be the reason I'm getting the Unable to download patch files [11003][20403].

Since this is not actually my computer, it is a work computer, I cannot change settings in my registry or change where MyDocuments is pointing to. Is there another way around this error?

    Hi there,
I have the very same problem with my profile being on a network-drive.
I'm looking forward to see a solution for this soon.

Sorry, but I don't think there's going to be a fix any time soon. This has been there since the 1.0 beta and I reported it at the time, but it was closed under the category of "Working as intended" or "No plans to fix" - I forget the exact wording, but you get the idea. 1.0 was even worse as the main game would also crash with a network My Documents, not just the patcher.

Even though 2.0 uses a different patcher, I found the same problem so reported it again in phase 3, but once again it was closed with the same response. Yes I was giving lots of details and how to replicate the problem, including registry keys to change to do it. I tried to find my thread to link to it, but it looks like they've closed the beta forums for good now.

Interestingly the 2.0 game itself does work even when your My Documents is a UNC path, so they fixed that at some point between 1.0 and 2.0, it's just the patcher that's still broken.

In the end I changed things my end so my "My Documents" is now a drive letter (which is a mapped drive), instead of a UNC path and that worked, but if you don't have permission to do that then that won't help.

One workaround I could see might help is to have the game installed/patched on another computer and then copy the files manually to the game directory and likewise mirror the "My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\downloads" directory too.

Not pretty, but should work. The game itself doesn't need any specific registry entries to run. Sorry I don't have a more helpful reply

For info, here's the thread i made when it stopped working for me in v1.0:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...patch?p=375803

I switched my setup from my mapped network drive to just another drive in my machine for my docs and profile directories and left it at that ever since.

Previously i was able to get around it by switching the location, updating using the file that had actually downloaded, and then switching back after, etc..

Havent looked into it in v2.0 personally but perhaps my old old posts may [or may not] be of help / interest.

    Happy hunting
