They almost replied. I got a form letter of sorts... It is all outdated and doesn't even mention the MogStation, which is required now and some of the steps are not needed or possible. But anyway, here is their response if anyone else is in the same position.

3. Register your pre-order bonus code

Access the pre-order code registration page and follow the instructions.

*If you have played FFXIV version 1.0 or participated in any of the beta phases, please log in to your Square Enix Account before registering your pre-order code.

4. Select service account
?If you have played FFXIV version 1.0 or participated in any of the beta phases
To participate in Early Access using your existing Square Enix Account, select the appropriate account.

?If you are a new player
Select "Create a new service account."

*This decision cannot be reversed, so please be cautious.

5. Download and install the game client
The Windows client download page will appear, so follow the instructions to download and install the client.

*If the download is not successful, use the following URL to reattempt the download.

6. Activate FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn
Run the installed "FINAL FANTASY XIV ? A Realm Reborn" client.
*If you selected "Create a desktop shortcut" when installing, a shortcut icon will be displayed on your desktop.

7. Log in
Following the on-screen instructions, log in to the Square Enix Account to which the pre-order code was registered.


8. Begin play
Once the above procedures have been completed, the game can be played. Press the "Begin play" button.
