That's true. I do find that quite a few high level recipes still use woolen cloth, so I tend to keep a fair amount of it on hand, especially HQ cloth, instead of having to make it from yarn each time a recipe needs it. Linen is primarily useful in a certain band of levels, as is Velveteen... but both are eventually outgrown.

I was doubting the gems too, but opted not to put them in. There are so many different gems, all used in only one or two recipes.. not something to be "hoarded", really.
I keep HQ gems on hand together with HQ electrum ingots so I can quickly create another ring, earring, choker, etc. whenever I've finished spiritbonding an old one. But that's really only if you convert them into Materia... which is something I do more with accessories than with HQ melded weapons and armor.

I guess it depends on what you like to make and what your levels are, but personally...
- lumber, logs, and branches -- I just keep a little spruce and rosewood on hand but not much else.
- ingots -- I don't keep copper or bronze, but yes to all the others.
- fibers, yarns, and fabrics -- after a while you probably won't need moko grass, hemp, or even cotton. I rarely even use diremite webs or dew thread.
