I agree! This needs to be fixed! It should work like so:

Less than 50% wear should result in gear being 10% effective
Items should wear 400% faster than it does right now
Weapons should wear slightly faster than that, but not by much.
NPC repairers should charge twice as much as they do right now.

I think that would fix everything, despite what some people think (and should know better).

The durability really isn't that much of a problem, especially after the last update. If you wear rank and class appropriate equipment, you should be good to go for awhile. They are continuously adjusting this as well.

And no to level loss, it doesnt make the game more realistic, it doesn't make the game feel more hardcore when you die, it just makes progress more tedious. If I want to rank some more, I will play one of the 18 jobs in game, nit re-rank my damn character.
    This.
I dont mind repairs but i think this fits perfectly in what i think about it. Also weapons need to be a bit more durable. Its much better since the update but i feel it goes down a LITTLE bit too fast still.

If anything the repair system is just going to not attract certain player's from buying the game. If they made the npc prices much lower, repair to 100% and add jewelry then I wouldn't mine it. It would also work as a true gil-sink then. Other then that I'm for just scrapping it. It has a bad taste in too many players mouth and deserves to die a lonely death.
This is terribly true. I'm being completely honest when I say the repair system is one of the main reasons I just don't log in anymore. I do not want to have to find someone to repair my gear or wait for someone in the wards to do it.

If I could just repair my gear to full by going to an NPC, I'd be completely fine with it. And I'd probably make FFXIV my main game again if that was done, along with a proper Auction House.

I love the system. It gives depth to crafting classes more than just "make stuff"

Keep it in game is my vote.

If you don't like it, vendor repair your gear.

I didn't have a problem with durability until I found out that the NPC only repairs to 75% and asks for WAY to much gil to repair them, and you need 5 million crafts leveled up to repair your gear.

The biggest potential issue I see is the need for a specific material to use to repair the item. If repairs could be done without the material, that would be a huge bonus, I think. It would also let any crafter who meets the class and level requirement repair any piece of gear, so getting repairs on certain items wouldn't be such a pain.

Yes, you can carry a stack of repair mats on you and bazaar them, but that still strikes me as a bit of a hassle, for both parties.

Wow, so now talking about the repair system? i mean why is it a bother? No interaction? maybe you're not so sociable? maybe you're not that talkative? Or maybe you just don't want to do it that your problem. Not SE.

For me it's the amount of different repairmaterials that's doing it for me. I carry around 15 to 20 materials at all times just to be able to repair my own and my husbands gear. It's clogging up so much room. Maybe something like repair kits could be implemented like leather repairkit for ranks 1~20, 21~40 etc. this would be a huge help already. Crafters could make these kits or they could be bought from the respective guilds and players could carry them with them for ease.
