agreed...god forbid we find a way to shorten this annoying grind...un-believeable..i dotn CARE about leveling..i just want to hit 50 as fast as possible..so this is a GOOD thing

What does it mean "it's part of the fate" or "the dev coded it this way".It's not an exploit.
"Clever use of game mechanics" = What happened in FFXI with Ninja. They where not meant to tank.
Exploit = Making it work differently to intended.
Now let's check here.
Are those mobs part of the fate? Yes.
Are they intended to be killed? Yup.
Did anyone do anything to make them act in a way they shouldn't? nope.
Did a player make them not count towards completion? No. S-E coded them like that.
Does killing them break the fate in anyway? No, it's still completable and mobs work as they are intended.
Of course, if you go by the definition of exploit when it comes to gaming. If you go by what the word really means, then no, it's not bad.
Of course the devs coded it this way. But if it's a dev error it's going to be corrected. It's not like devs code an exploit on purpose waiting for the first guy to find it and make a message pop with "congratulations you found it. here, take these 10k bonus exp".
Exploits are errors coded in the game abused by others. When SE officially says that it's working as intended then you can claim that it's working as intended. Until then stop bashing a possible exploit report, otherwise, if it will get corrected, you are just adding more and more shame on yourself.
OP should be forced to level a second job using only fates, you know, like we're all forced to do if you want to have that second job. When he's all done, we can ask him if his feelings about DD have changed at all.
Go ahead and change the mechanic...as long as that change is accompanied by an enormous amount of new quests to help with leveling the second time through.
People aren't failing it, they just wait until the last moment to clear the objective and move on to part 2. I don't understand why people keep trying to call this an exploit. You're still operating well within the game's mechanics. They're ignoring FATE objectives and purposely failing it to not only get it to reappear soon (failed FATEs do have a chance of respawning faster), but because they can kill an endless supply of mobs in a corner. That screams "not intended" so loudly its not even funny.
There was a similar exploit that got nerfed in 1.0 involving purposely failing leves, so this being dealt with is not that far outside the realm of possibilities.
Are you saying that killing the other mobs is -not- part of the fate? Funny that they exist then....They're ignoring FATE objectives and purposely failing it to not only get it to reappear soon (failed FATEs do have a chance of respawning faster), but because they can kill an endless supply of mobs in a corner. That screams "not intended" so loudly its not even funny.

I don't think you got what I was saying. I was just pointing out the difference in what an exploit is, compare to taking advantage of a game mechanic. What does it mean "it's part of the fate" or "the dev coded it this way".

And even if they fix it to how they want, it does not make it an exploit.
technically is not an exploit, it's a bad design of SE in this type of FATE.
the goal of this sort of FATE is to go from A to B to save someone.
monster appear and block your way, the trouble is this monster musn't repop normally. since killing them make you progress into the FATE.
here the player use the fact that the FATE don't progress and simply kill the monster that repop (extremely fast in the case of dark device)
i will not say is an exploit (even if it look like one), but SE will surely put a fix sooner or later (sooner than later)
ps: however i condemn the behavior of certain that go to insult you, or like said sadique go to report you. simply because you don't do this.
actually if i was SE i will offer them sometimes for learn... manner and respect with a kick of 1-2 days.

It is pretty clearly an exploit. The never-ending enemies were probably intended to slow your progress, not supply endless EXP fodder. If it were intentional the situation would exist in other places in the game, which it doesn't. Whether it's worth getting fixed or not is another matter entirely; as exploits go it's not really a very advantageous one. All anyone gets is a bunch of EXP in a game in which you can already get max level in a week.
I have had some fun pulling one or two of the mobs that count for progress and watching everyone flip out because their precious EXP is in danger though.
isnt this the wrong place to report an exploit? I would have thought reporting an exploit would go under bug reports.
just sayin
