You call that an exploit?? Give me a break. It is a legit way to level up.Dark Devices is a four stage L:49 fate that spawns in Northern Thanalan. The first phase is poorly designed, allowing players to farm infinitely spawning mobs while completely ignoring the target mobs that spawn near the mine entrance. What results is approximately 14:30 of people spamming AOE and doing nothing else in order to earn anywhere from 10,000 to 200,000 XP depending on the quality (and luck) of their group.
This is an XP and quality of life exploit on par with "speed runs" of certain L:50 instances and needs to be fixed ASAP.
This needs to be changed so that the mobs only spawn near the target mobs, or that the target mobs charge into the fight as soon as the non-target mobs are engaged. That way this fate can progress as intended. The other three phases of the fate are working as intended.
Yes, one FATE awarding 245,000 XP while every other FATE at this level awards 1/20th of that is completely intended and legitimate. Are you serious?
I'm already half way there with my WAR doing nothing but FATEs and dungeons. I don't need to resort to exploits to get over the "grind". This game is much slower paced than most other MMOs on the market. Perhaps it's just not your style?

Taking advantage of the systems that make up the gameplay. A game mechanics exploit is not a bug—it is working as designed, but at the same time is not working as intended.
Simply put, the players are taking advantage of a poor game design in a way that was not intended.
Thus it is an exploit. No ’if’s, ’and’s or ’but’s about it.
OP should be forced to level a second job using only fates, you know, like we're all forced to do if you want to have that second job. When he's all done, we can ask him if his feelings about DD have changed at all.
Go ahead and change the mechanic...as long as that change is accompanied by an enormous amount of new quests to help with leveling the second time through.

technically is not an exploit, it's a bad design of SE in this type of FATE.
the goal of this sort of FATE is to go from A to B to save someone.
monster appear and block your way, the trouble is this monster musn't repop normally. since killing them make you progress into the FATE.
here the player use the fact that the FATE don't progress and simply kill the monster that repop (extremely fast in the case of dark device)
i will not say is an exploit (even if it look like one), but SE will surely put a fix sooner or later (sooner than later)
ps: however i condemn the behavior of certain that go to insult you, or like said sadique go to report you. simply because you don't do this.
actually if i was SE i will offer them sometimes for learn... manner and respect with a kick of 1-2 days.

It is pretty clearly an exploit. The never-ending enemies were probably intended to slow your progress, not supply endless EXP fodder. If it were intentional the situation would exist in other places in the game, which it doesn't. Whether it's worth getting fixed or not is another matter entirely; as exploits go it's not really a very advantageous one. All anyone gets is a bunch of EXP in a game in which you can already get max level in a week.
I have had some fun pulling one or two of the mobs that count for progress and watching everyone flip out because their precious EXP is in danger though.
Please get ur facts straight before talking there are other fate with the same type of mechanic...where mobs spawn really fast...u can choose not to deliver the items they drop to the quest giver, and farm that xp for 15 min.It is pretty clearly an exploit. isnt this the wrong place to report an exploit? I would have thought reporting an exploit would go under bug reports.
just sayin
Why does it even matter? It's not like its effecting anyone in a negative way. If you don't like just skip the fate or kill them yourself and move on with life. No need to whine about it on the forum
