Yup, me and a friend went to northan thanalan yesturday for some quick tokens, that event just happened to be the second event on, we stood there tagging mobs for about a minute or 2 and when we thought we tagged enough to get the full reward we moved onto the actual mobs needed to die, let's just say the bitching and reactions people gave was hilarious calling us trolls and that we didn't get "any attention from their parents" and such, if people need to bitch about exploiting an unintended way to gain exp from a fate and think they have a right then they're doing it wrong, I had 0 problems with exp and it was more than fast enough to hit 50 whilst playing casually and just going to fates when ever I saw them instead of farming them like mad for exp.

I hope you reported every person who harassed you in shout. The more attention this gets the faster it will get fixed.

All signs point to this being an oversight, unintended, and an exploit.

Oversight or Unintended - Unless you wrote the code this is 100% your assumption and you know what they say when you assume.

Exploit - Not so much, this is not circumventing game design or mechanics. You cannot do this indefinitely as there is a timer that will force you to the next phase of the Fate and this is not the only place you can avoid the goal and work the extra enemies for added XP. Yes you gain more XP but this does not give it the definition of an exploit.

Keep in mind some people are 100% out of content and quests which Fates have the best ROI when looking at the ratio of time to reward. Things change on your second + class.

Never done the fate, don't care really. Couple things I read in this thread though are hilarious. Especially the people saying its not an exploit, because it is.

You are abusing an unintended XP method, thus exploiting.

Also, to the dumbass whos claiming that fate is the only way to level a second job... your an idiot.

If SE listened to the topic creator then that FATE will just turn into another 30sec FATE just like all the other normal non-boss FATES. But the way it sounds like he wants it, it will be a minute of killing trash just like AK.

Sorry, didn't mean to double post. The mobile site is not very intuitively laid out.

The people thinking this is intended are missing a few key points.

1. This FATE, while exploited, awards twenty times more XP than any other FATE at this level.
2. Players who attempt to complete the FATE in the intended manner (competing objectives) are harassed by people exploiting the FATE.
3. Other FATEs with similar mechanics do not have the mob density and respawn rate that this FATE has.

There is a 13 minute timer. You are mad because people are taking full advantage of the timer given to them by the devs? Are you also one of those guys that blows a gasket when someone in group watches the cut scenes? Got to move, move, move eh? This should not take more than 30 seconds! Just because people are playing a different way than you think they should, does not mean you are right. In fact, I would probably say based on your attitude and tone that you aren't a creating a positive impact for your fellow players in game.
