I've watched the same two characters bot the crap out of Banemites in the north shroud, have reported it repeatedly... there still there...

Is this really going to be like the fishbots of FFXI where we just have to learn to accept that SE won't fix it?

Try to understand that there's situations for things. They might be botters but they also can be players who hacked another player's account and are using them to bot. So it's not as simple as banning them and such.

I will concede to that... however, I've seen more than this one character doing it... all from the same FC. It's just that after years of playing FFXI and seeing what little they did to do away with fishbots I don't have much faith in SEs willingness to solve that problem.

That being the key phrase. This dude is just standing in one spot, targeting them as soon as they spawn. "Maybe he's just faster than you?" Maybe... so I pulled the bomb that spawns by the same spot... as soon as it's in range... he tags it and takes it down.

I saw an Archer a while back (a few days after release) camping a lone wind spirit spawn.

They'd tag it the moment it spawned. Then wait and repeat. She was there 16 hours later doing the same thing. So, I pulled a mob near her and sure enough, she tagged and killed it the moment it got near where the wind spirit spawned.

It's pretty easy to tell that player: "avertgasdf asdfeg" isn't a bot. For the others though it might need to be on a case by case basis.

For the gold spamming bots:
I really wish they would implement systems like: you can only use /shout every 15+ seconds in the three major cities (or everywhere should they decide to not try and encourage them to migrate to places where people level). They could also do things like prevent people from sending /shout so many times in a minute/hour etc. and extend that to PMing as well.
I also wish they would allow us to turn off /shout in specific areas (like gridania) that way we didn't have to put up with it or take our /shout out of the way entirely.

Your point would be what? Just because an act is common does not make it right. Beyond that, yes WoW (I'm not afraid to say it) does have botters... but they're nowhere NEAR as common as what I saw when I played FFXI or the week that I've played this game.
