Things to do. Right now the only parts of the map that have anything to do in them are the areas directly around the camps and gates. In Thanalan there is an Al Mihigo refugee camp and nothing to do there. there are some missions that take you to the Hamlets but they are still largely unused. Beastmen camps and roaming beastmen war parties could patrol the areas. NMs, Quest NPCs. All just examples of how they could fill it up and make it less boring.
And these are things they say they are working on addressing, so the key here is to be patient. SE has a plan, they really don't need these "fix this" threads unless it's for something they have not discussed or it legitimately needs to be fixed and they are not aware of the problem.Things to do. Yup. Just giving the op some examples of better ways to go about fixing the problem with out making our world smaller. And these are things they say they are working on addressing, so the key here is to be patient. You want maps to be narrower??? Are you kidding me??? The majority of people freakin hate black shroud cause its too narrow. Were in an MMO cause its a vast open world WTF lets make this a platformer instead so we have no choice but to go through aggroin mobs. Your idea is so stupid.
There's just not enough mobs that aggro in this game. All mobs level 10 and less should not aggro on sight, 50% of level 11 to 25 should aggro, 75% of level 26 to 35 should aggro and 99% lvl 36+ should be aggro on sight.
But yeah i do agree there is way to many copy paste in maps, they look cool when ur a noob but quickly realize how lazy the dev were when they made them.

Narrower doesn't mean Black Shroud narrow, chill out, makes you look stupid when you react like an idiot. She/He explained that narrow in the sense that FFXI's maps were narrow. TC I don't necessarily agree but I agree with you on everything else and the maps need to be different, its stupid design when you take an entire area and make it completely possible to rank up to cap in that one area and make the entire area look the exact same. You want maps to be narrower??? And SE, for the record, this game wont be successful unless you make the maps more interesting and you should make them more interesting and they should be high up on your priorities too alongside content and battle changes.
