As nice as it is to be able to be anything and make anything, I think it's time to consider letting crafters specialize in their favorite crafting professions.

The economy and community will be bolstered by relying on each other for crafts that they can't make themselves. It will also give players another way of making gil after spending so much to get them to 50.

I would like to see a quest that is available at every crafting guild. However, just like the Grand Company quest you can only choose to follow the path of one. Upon completing a quest testing your prowess in the selected profession you are awarded with a book of guild secrets.

In that book of secrets there are recipes for items that are not available to a master of any other profession.

My favorite crafting profession is Alchemy. So maybe the recipes available in my book are glues and reagents used by the masters of other professions. But those masters don't have access to the secrets of Alchemy.

Perhaps there could be recipes for dyes that can dye any material...

The Master of Threads of course would create weaved masterpieces. I could make up more names, but I think you get the idea.

Sidenote: Why the F can every crafting class make dye? Why isn't it strictly Alchemy? C'mon.... /fume
