Every MMO is linear if you think about it. There is a BIS and that's that. FFXIV just cut out the guesswork.

You couldn't be more wrong, literally, every word of that statement is wrong.
Ever play Rift? You have about 100 skills at max level, and you can mix and match them to create your own personalized character. The only thing linear about it is you follow the main quest line, but even then, it's different depending on what class you are.
In fact, most MMO's are not linear, you have a choice, your character is can be something different than everyone elses...
In FF14, every single person has the same exact skills. You can not customize your character except cosmetically. ASS
this game is just a joke. A bad bad joke
Do you honestly think Rift doesn't have optimized builds? Just because it has more options doesn't mean most of them are worth anything. In every MMO ever cookie cutter eventually takes over and narrows down the choices no matter how many options there are. At that point only the terribads who don't know any better use "unique" builds.
Also, linearity in games refers to content. In a linear game you have to follow a certain path while in a non-linear game you have much freedom in choosing in which order you tackle content.
Yea, Rift does have optimized builds, but there are A TON OF THEM. And at least you get the choice to use them or not. I would gladly pick the unique builds over optimized just to change it up a bit, instead of being forced to use the same exact build as everyone else.Do you honestly think Rift doesn't have optimized builds? This is the definition of cookie cutter.
if they are all so great then leave go play them. cant wait til after this month is over so people like you wont renew and go away. really go play rift, wow, swtor, or what ever game you want." Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye"Yea, Rift does have optimized builds, but there are A TON OF THEM. And at least you get the choice to use them or not. I call BS unless you just ran very casually. In every game i've played that had a lot of choices, every one had players calling others gimp and not running with them if they weren't even close to optimal. Rift and DDO (DDO more than rift even really) had the most flexibility, but you could also could also make a character that would be next to useless. Even WoW, which had fewer choices, originally had talent trees that you could vary, but try and run end game with them, and you wouldn't get far. In all of those systems, the optimal build will be discovered, and unless you run with just friends who will put up with it, you are boned if you chose "flavor" builds.Yea, Rift does have optimized builds, but there are A TON OF THEM. I can choose to take Hawk's Eye as BLM, but i don't, because there are better abilities. Choice doesn't matter when things are unbalanced. I've never played an MMO that hasn't had a best set up for a class. It's simply not possible. You couldn't be more wrong, literally, every word of that statement is wrong.

Not gonna argue with you, pal. With logic like that, how could I, oh infallible one? Here's an idea, though. You could always, you know, go play rift while you wait for GTA5 or the next CoD if those are the end all MMO's for you and leave this "bad joke" of a game to us 300k+ idiots who seem to somehow enjoy it... Truth! You couldn't be more wrong, literally, every word of that statement is wrong.

I think what he is trying to say is..
Jobs should have access to more, if not ALL of the other classes instead of being limited to a few skills in TWO class. That would allow for more diversity and flavour and would really make the armory system proud.
