Amdapor Keep Gear guide -Help, what gear do I need?-

I just tried to do an AK run just after beating the main storyline quest. I have my Paladin gear and thought I could. When we started players would immediately leave and not tell me why.

One nice player actually told me that I needed better gear and to go by Grand company gear. I cannot do this. In order to buy the GC gear you have to beat Amdapor Keep!

So where should I gear up for this run? Appreciate any help

You can farm Palace and level 40+ dungeons for Tomestones of Philosophy and use them to buy Darklight gear from camp Revenant's Toll (in Mor Dhona). Though I'd recommend you'd just try to find a friendly linkshell or free company group to learn the dungeon with. I'm pretty sure I've successfully run it with tanks in pretty much full AF.

The Wanderer's Palace drops lv50 Darklight Weapons and a Darklight shield you could use. It also drops various pieces of gear, some of the tank gear may be an upgrade for you.

The Wanderer's Palace also rewards you with Tomestones of Philosophy which can be used to buy Darklight gear. If you want to farm more Tomestones, Castrum Meridianum awards 100 Tomestones of Philosophy per run.

I remember I did my very first AK run as a fresh level 50 PLD with just AF gear and some older accessories from previous dungeons and we were fine.

the easiest way is farming tomes in Castrum. it's a super easy 8 men dungeon and award you 100 tomes per run. you'll get your darklight parts in few days.

i have runned AK successfully with a tank that has pretty much same gear as you. Problem is there are a ton of elitist "speed runners" who will not except anyone other that people in T1 with good mainhand.

AK is not really hard for the tank, it's more a dungeon where the dps is more needed.
if you know how tank the boss is easy actually.

^ this. Its true. Myself and I'm sure more than a few other people have run AK in strictly full AF gear no problem. Some people agree just douchebags

Thank you for all the advice. I have ran into quite a few toxic players since hitting the 50 dungeons. People just quitting after inspecting my gear, being d-bags in the chat, even after a successful Ifrit Hard mode where nobody died A player said I was "a shitty tank" and then left. Ive seen it directed at others too, DPS, healers, I dont understand why people are like this at the higher levels...
