Everyone being everything means no market at all

    Seriously...

People don't go to the boards when they find they need something for a recipe they want to make, they grab a 4th/5th/6th gathering profession or crafting profession. Which in turn means you don't want to use the market, because why buy stuff off the market to craft stuff that no one is going to buy?

The market is completely stagnant and with the ease of leveling these professions, everyone will have lvl 50 DoH and DoF all jobs well before any expansion happens. Nothing they can really do at this point will heal the wound either, because the only real solution is locking people to 1 each of DoH and DoF. But this is all a part of removing relying on other people from MMO's. Because the second M isn't multiplayer...

It's too bad too, because crafting and gathering is a blast in this game, too bad you have nothing to do with any of it except what you can personally use.

I dunno if i agree. Personally i am to lazy to actually level all the crafting profs cuz imo it's a pain. I prefer doing some active content and if i need something - i buy it.

In the interest of being polite, I'll reword my opening statement to simply say that I think you're completely wrong. Post-20 the crafting classes take a very, very long time to level. Getting just one to 50 is going to take some time; the vast majority of players aren't going to do as you suggest - it's far easier just to buy what you need from the overflowing markets.

I've spent the past two days mostly playing my weaver, leveling and making stuff to sell. Regular stuff isn't going to sell, no. But I've had great success selling HQ stuff, especially that which I've had materia on hand to enhance.

Me too. My high quality sales have done quite well and fetched a good price with little competition.

Can't remember, but in V1.0, if you had more than one craft over a certain level, didn't one degrade as you level the other? Or am i getting this confused with another game? Maybe that was XI.

There's no real difference in how crafting classes work here and just making new characters to take up other crafts.

Those truly dedicated to never relying on anyone else will get their gathering and crafting skills up to max rank. If they were not allowed to do this, they would instead create new characters to take up these crafts.

    This makes no sense...

How is this system different from any other MMO? You can always create additional characters on other MMOs and make them craft other things. The only difference is that in this game you dont have to change characters. So explain to me how not having to take a minute to switch to another character is going to mean there will be no market system....

Others have said it before, people will either get burned out on crafting, or don't want to mess with more than one or two professions. After the glut of new players get past the lowbie levels, the crafted stuff will have a viable market. Remember that most of the time, people rarely revisit lower levels to craft stuff just to sell, so that market will start to rise again after a month or so.

"You don't stop playing when you get old, you get old when you stop playing!"

Punctuation is your friend. It deliniates the difference between "Let's eat, Grandma!" and "Let's eat Grandma!"

That is why most (except one set) of the best gear comes from drops and tokens, and not crafters?

Crafters are only good for relics, melds and AF+1 right now. I think they should be more involved...

You just need to look around the forums, there are a lot of complains about the economy. Especially with cooking and fishing.
