Controller problem

SE, in their infinite wisdom, decided to put auto-run as the same button as switch target, as the SAME button as zoom in/out. Has anyone found a way to get rid of this? It makes fighting really a pain in the ass because as i'm running i switch targets and it sets autorun and i run into oblivion. Or I'll be fighting and need to zoom out and see more. But doing that switches my targets 5 times.

If anyone's found a fix for this, I would really love to hear it.

I play a MNK and I use the directional pad.

Get used to it, and it's really easy. I can DD one target and switch/stun another.

(AK, Succubuss/Dhulmal or w/e the knight thing is at the same time)

I have this issue as well...sadly in the controller config in the system settings you get pigeon holed into making one of the shoulder buttons auto-run.

I have same problem too; it's pretty annoying because I'm switching targets all the time to monitor enmity levels. Currently I have to not move forward while switching targets.

Edit: Possible solution; SE could disable auto-run while in instances or put an option to do so.

Oh. I never used L1 to switch targets. I always used F11 to target nearest enemy.

It is stupid how you can't disable auto run. The controller configuration is nearly useless.

If you're not on a PS3, just don't use a controller. Problem solved.

Some people find the controller easier to play with.

I do find it easier to play monk with it due to the constant position movements needed.



OP I can't say I have your problem as I use the directional buttons, have you tried that?

The problem with d-pad and targeting is I have to release the cross bar. I use mixed so I don't have to hold l2/r2 down while i'm doing my moves. because of that I use L1/R1 to target, it's significantly easier.

Other problem is, if you change auto-run to R1 instead of L1, it makes the targeting backwards, so you hitting L1 moves to the right target, and R1 moves to the left target.

These seem like very basic things to be an oversight. I can't imagine why they'd do it like this.
