    Second guessing

I would first like to apologize, this won't be very constructive; However, it's been something that's been a pain in my side for a while now in the game.

I've noticed that this game's menus love to second-guess you whenever you want to do something... In almost every menu it asks you "do you really want to do this" after you've gone through the process of selecting what you want to do.

The one that's probably annoyed me the most is saying no to random guild invites..
"Do you want to join Superdragonsblood?" - No.
"Are you sure you want to turn down the invitation to Superdragonsblood?" - Already said i didn't want to join!

I don't expect them to change their UI for this, though the UI could Use Improvements anyway... But it's just become annoying when you know what you're doing, but the game always has to add that one extra step to say "do you really want this" as if we're idiots who can't follow menu paths.

    Anyway, have a good one

I would like to take a Chocobo porter today.

"Hello! It seems you would like to take a Chocobo porter!"

Yes, I selected Chocobo porter from the menu. Let's try this one more time.

"Okay! Where would you like to go?!"

Let's try ... Costa Del Sol. The weathers sunny there, most of the time.

"Hi! Are you sure you want to go there?!"

For the god**n third time, yes!

SE does not do it for the few of us who knows what we doing. They do it for all the people who made mistake in 1.0 and FFXI. This is why they ask you are you use you want join? or are you very sure you want to turn down the invitation. Sorry to say but they going to keep doing that and it's something you have to deal with due to most people making mistake and bitching on the forums because they drop or lost something.

I don't think Square gives it's customers enough credit, as a large majority of gamers in the other large (and small) MMO's don't seem to have widespread problems of not being able to operate the UI properly. If there really was an epidemic of people unable to work the UI properly in XI and 1.0, perhaps it's not -us- that's at fault; Perhaps it's Square that needs to learn how to design a better and more comfortable UI instead of making it look like a Windows OS.

As i said though, i'm not expecting them to change it, a minor annoyance like this is at the far bottom of any list of things i'd like them to address, this is just a pet peeve of mine and i wanted to see how others felt on the issue of it.

Or, if nothing else could they have a selection box of

"I'm an idiot and need to double confirm everything"

    vs

"I'm not a meat Popsicle and require no conformations"

That way we can uncheck the box and only do things once.

Are you kidding me? Have you not seen the million threads of "I messed up my character's design/starting city/name!!!!! I demand a redo!!!!?"

So many people are idiots, and I'd rather be inconvenienced for half a second than have others be stuck with choices they didn't mean to make, even though they were given ample warning/basically had their hands held through it. It's sad, but it's true.

There's SOOO many threads clamoring for MORE confirmation windows, and I think it's just best to err on the side of caution.

I know what you mean. I hate when I decline a party/FC invitation and then they ask you "So you wanna decline?"

    YES FFS, YES!

Honestly, that's just human nature. They didn't make a mistake, they chose something and they regretted it afterwards. I do it too, you do it, everyone does it. No one is going to do -anything- with their character model that they will be 100% happy with a week down the line. Frankly, if Square is trying to protect people against human nature, they're just in for headaches and pain.

If they -really- wanted to solve this problem for themselves... they would put in paid name changes and make that change vial thing purchasable on an account based store, and then give a bundle price to do both. Square would make more money doing things that do not change game-play in the slightest and as long as they did it right so name changes didn't screw up the friend list (or blacklist) then it'd a win/win.
