Healing and Fates.. Why isn't it working anymore?

I used to have two strategies that worked flawlessly being a WHM and dealing with fate zerging. One strategy on boss fates is to find the tank and heal bomb him with everything I got. The next for most other fates is to cast regen on every soul I can target to build up crazy amounts of Enmity. Both these strategies always yielded gold rank. Always.


Now no matter how much I heal or who I heal it does nothing. I don't even get a rank. No EXP. No Gil. No seals. The only way I can get a ranking is if I start to deal damage. Which is tough for a WHM to keep up on unless I'm sniping mobs with Aero.


Did they change how healing works in fates as a whole? Do I need to be in a party now if I want to heal? I don't really want to join a Fate party. I like to be able to quest and if I see one near by run over and grab it. Now it's not worth my time because if I have to deal damage I only ever get copper. This is in Coerthas Central Highlands if that provides any context.

what I hear is that healing is only counted towards ranking if you are part of a party. Also being a WHM i just use aero and and aqua aura to boost my ranking. I find that this game is mostly set up for disciples of war especially in regards to gear and weapons.

I was unaware of that. I'm always in a party with my brother, so healing always seemed to help me get gold (even if I'm not healing us). I heal the NPCs a lot if there are some. They're always 1/2 dead it seems and there just to be healed I thought. I also do some damage though as well with Aero (and now Holy), so maybe my results are hard to gauge.

I have found this as well and I don't understand. I thought that SE had fixed the enmity issue for healers in FATEs and apparently not. It is very VERY frustrating because I want to heal and raise those in the battle, but if I do I get nothing from it. Come on, SE. Play fair. Is it right to leave our fellows lying on the ground or blinking at low health so we risk getting nothing from the FATE? Personally I heal and raise anyway because that is who I am. Too many don't and I don't blame them. But it is a broken, broken system. I am really getting tired of it.

the trouble is the party around, since you are alone, you will get nothing but bronze... you need to be in team since all the action of the group (the credit) are shared in some way.
since soo many team are doing the fate, get a gold means get as much credit than them... is impossible. the system is unbalanced and unfair.
the team credit was placed for push people to band together, but as it is now... you are forced to team if you want to get something/

I was wondering about this... I used to stand back and heal the crap out of fates... so now if I want to just solo them, I can only do dps... that kind of sucks.

evn by doing this, on boss fate you will most of the time get silver only if a zerg is around.

So you sacrifice the purpose of joining the fate if you play the class you are intended to play...thus leaving others dead on the ground or at low health? Really? I mean, really? That is totally broken and ridiculous.

I know! Its crazy. I've decided that FATEs aren't for me...I just stumble on them now and heal and raise anyway (like you). The other day I raised some people during Savra and they all messaged me like I had really saved their lives by CPR!? But, it gives me the nice feeling that I became a healer for...share the love....don't mind about XP, Gil or medals in FATEs now. That's why I became a healer....random healing to strangers. Which has a fun side....the other day I went to Costa Del Sol, put on my bikini and ran up and down the beach healing people doing their leves etc. That was fun, and lots of people waved, cheered and laughed for me. Happy times. That's why I play.

I find myself doing the same now I'm working on my CNJ. The amount of tells I get thanking me for heals and raises is insane. Makes a nice change since I tanked my way to 50 and got little to no thanks at all, not that I mind since I know that I did a good job. After being left for dead on a number of FATEs and not being healed myself, now playing as a healer I like to help out when I can.
