Healing and you!

The only time I think it's reasonable to expect heals in a Fate is when it a single boss type and you are tanking. And not dedicated healing, only now and then.

This is pretty much my thinking. Generally the cluster-style FATES don't require much healing, but I will toss one out on occasion if need be.

But even so, I was in a full FATE party up at Camp Dragonhead the other day. We were doing a single boss FATE , and one of the DD got a whopping 10K more points than me. I was hustling like any good WHM, mostly healing and casting stones or DOTs when I could. That's a massive difference and I can assure you there was no less effort on my part.

He might have had rested bonus, and/or the class he was playing was lower level than his highest level class giving him a 50% bonus.

It goes both ways.

I love to micro-manage healing during a FATE, but I've found every time I start doing it I've got aggro coming at me from all sides. And absolutely no DPS or Tanks stepping forward to assist. At end tier FATEs, it quickly goes from healing other players to keeping myself standing and kiting as I quickly draw enmity from multiple mobs by healing multiple melee players.

I have no issues with the mechanics of that; healing draws aggro and that's fine. I do have issues with "Healers aren't doing their jobs!". Well, we can't heal when we're dead and the melee we're trying to help rarely get our backs in a FATE.

Healing will award us nothing. so we just need to do damage.

As someone who has both a SCH and WHM and has leveled up no DD classes I can tell you a 100% sure that healing DOES NOT award nearly as much contribution as DPSing. If you're in a party it's another story cause then you will earn contribution from other party members action so long you are in the FATE at the same time as them, however when SOLOing fates I typically don't heal simply because that will net me nothing or a meager bronze.

i play as a scholar and i ALWAYS invite the tank to my party(if he isnt already in one) and let my Eos/Selena heal the tank wile i put on DoT's
if needed i heal the tank my self.

dont get why ppl just dont ignore the tank when they got heals.

if you are a healer class you should ALWAYS fokus healing but you can always toss some Stones or DoT's on the boss to add some DPS

If you aren't in my party you aren't getting heals at a FATE.

Healing doesn't get you as much contribution. It might generate hate, sure, but I've healed and I've DD'd entire bosses, DD wins every time.

Doesn't help when I get chased by all of the elite mobs because noone will take them off me either.

Personally I keep healing the tank every so often, but I risk losing my Gold medal when I do. (Cancer no heals: Gold 9/10 times, Cancer half healing tank: Silver or bronze).

In a party htough, hell yes, Medica = Insta-gold if everyone has got a good bit of hate spread around. Just not everyone joins, or can join (DF wait) a party.

I tried healing this fate the other day and I couldn't see anybody to heal them even though I was in a party. So I COULDN'T heal the tank even if I wanted to. I couldn't target him as if he was miles away even though he was tanking. There were just too many people at the FATE. If there aren't 100 people I could heal just fine.

I agree he could of tossed a few heals but you really only need healers for the FATE's like Behemoth and Odin and the like. All the other FATE's you can get by by just using appropriate defense skills and healing yourself now and again.
