i play as a scholar and i ALWAYS invite the tank to my party(if he isnt already in one) and let my Eos/Selena heal the tank wile i put on DoT's
if needed i heal the tank my self.

dont get why ppl just dont ignore the tank when they got heals.

if you are a healer class you should ALWAYS fokus healing but you can always toss some Stones or DoT's on the boss to add some DPS

They always ran off to kill some other mob or left me to fend for myself...
I also got this a lot. Once even when I helped out a dying player on his quest, healed him to full and took the aggro from 2 out of 3 of the quest mobs. He finishes off his target, and what did he do? He ran forward to interact with his quest objective.

I sighed and sprinted out of range, then went back to see the same player now fighting the whole 3 quest mobs again from the start, and obviously will die from the damage he was taking. I didn't heal him again.

Same in FATEs. People who aggroed regular mobs would drag the mob around in circles hoping others would take it off him, and I made the stupid mistake of healing those kind of people once. They never, never come back to finish off the mob for you. They leave the mob chewing on you, and go rushing FATE mobs for their gold medal.

Never am I going to save anyone other than the active tank again in a FATE. Never.

If you aren't in my party you aren't getting heals at a FATE.

Healing doesn't get you as much contribution. It might generate hate, sure, but I've healed and I've DD'd entire bosses, DD wins every time.

Doesn't help when I get chased by all of the elite mobs because noone will take them off me either.

Personally I keep healing the tank every so often, but I risk losing my Gold medal when I do. (Cancer no heals: Gold 9/10 times, Cancer half healing tank: Silver or bronze).

In a party htough, hell yes, Medica = Insta-gold if everyone has got a good bit of hate spread around. Just not everyone joins, or can join (DF wait) a party.

This is pretty much my thinking. Generally the cluster-style FATES don't require much healing, but I will toss one out on occasion if need be.

But even so, I was in a full FATE party up at Camp Dragonhead the other day. We were doing a single boss FATE , and one of the DD got a whopping 10K more points than me. I was hustling like any good WHM, mostly healing and casting stones or DOTs when I could. That's a massive difference and I can assure you there was no less effort on my part.

I tried healing this fate the other day and I couldn't see anybody to heal them even though I was in a party. So I COULDN'T heal the tank even if I wanted to. I couldn't target him as if he was miles away even though he was tanking. There were just too many people at the FATE. If there aren't 100 people I could heal just fine.

He might have had rested bonus, and/or the class he was playing was lower level than his highest level class giving him a 50% bonus.

I agree he could of tossed a few heals but you really only need healers for the FATE's like Behemoth and Odin and the like. All the other FATE's you can get by by just using appropriate defense skills and healing yourself now and again.

My typical CNJ rotation for a FATE is Tab-Aero-Tab-Aero-Tab-Aero-Repeat. Putting aside the very large difficulty of healing people not in your party (A target-of-my-target macro for the tank notwithstanding) this is what the current system rewards.

Heck, when trying to raise Arcanist a bit the other day, the most rewarding option was for me to spam FLASH of all things. I suggest getting a healer in your party instead of expecting strangers to sacrifice their own rewards to boost yours. In the OP's example, those people should have been joined up in one party. Now if they WERE in a party (OP's post does not indicate this) then yes, they were being silly and someone should explain to them that keeping the tank alive would have gotten everyone the top reward.

I thought every class could use Cure. Is someone not carrying you enough?
