Exactly why FF14 is casual centric but they shouldn't expect easy access to top tier gear... Its like asking for a job that is easy and only requires 5 hours of work a week but pays a salary in the range of top CEOs
It's worth mentioning that FFXIV is not work, but an entertainment product that people not only pay for at the counter, but also pay additional monthly fees merely for the privilege of accessing the game. It shouldn't be a second job.
No, there shouldn't be some "click me to win all the shinies all the time" button, but expecting them to block portions of the game off from the majority of the player base (either because they lack skill, time, or simply don't wish to invest their heart and soul into one game) forever isn't a good idea.
~Note to self: Stop logging out in silly hats~
Then MMOs are not the genre for you. It's worth mentioning that FFXIV is not work, but an entertainment product that people not only pay for at the counter, but also pay additional monthly fees merely for the privilege of accessing the game. It shouldn't be a second job.

Try single player RPGs where you're certain to at least get a couple of the best items that are part of the in-game quest line...
If you lack the skill and the dedication to get the best items, you don't get it, its as simple as that
This is a game model that makes the producer less money than accessible content; ergo, it won't be how it works for long. Get used to the idea now, it will hurt less when it changes. Then MMOs are not the genre for you.

There's a fine line by making good gear accessible to a wide range of players and making good gear too accessible at which point players will either A) get bored and quit or B) vocally complain for new content to be released ad infinitum.
Are you suggesting that the devs should be handing out relics and AF+1 gear? if you truly think so, get used to the fact that it won't happen, it will hurt less when it doesn't happen.
*Cough*....
So, when titan and BC get nerfed and the devs are "handing out relics and af+1", they won't infact be handing out relics and af+1?
Interesting.
Regardless of all of the above; if casual players stop playing because they don't have enough to do, content will get nerfed. Period.
This is a subscription model; people can't just pay for what they want to do and go. If people don't feel they have anything to do, they just go altogether, and the company loses money. What you or what I think is "best for the game" is utterly irrelevant; what's best for the game is secondary to what is most profitable for the game.
We're obviously talking about the current landscape not an unknown landscape in the future that god knows when it will happen...So, when titan and BC get nerfed and the devs are "handing out relics and af+1", they won't infact be handing out relics and af+1?

I used Relic and AF+1 as it illustrates current top tier gear, as future content gets releases and more top tier equipments are made available, Relic and AF+1 would be akin to AF gear in usefulness.
What happens when top end gear is made easily accessible to casuals? it'll simple destroy the value of said top end gear; and what happens after top tier dungeons are made to be defeated easily by casuals? they'll still leave as they've completed every available content...
The only reason you want Relics and AF+1 now is simply because it is difficult to attain and therefore you recognize the value of it.
No one is isolating casuals, its just that casuals needs to understand that they can't have everything without putting in effort for it. Casuals have access to majority, except the top tier content... this is pretty casual centric IMO.
