I agree and kudos to you for learning the pattern and downing him in two weeks. Quite the accomplishment really, so well done.

Making a big chunk of content not accessible by the majority of players is bad business practice. It'll end with this game being an even more niche market. Coil is going to be accessible by most people regardless because this is a progression based game. People need to stop thinking that this is FFXi once your gear level catches up to the challenge it won't be nearly as difficult.
The dumb thing is challenge can be created for yourself extremely easily, yet people are lazy and want the devs to do it for them. If you really cared about challenge you would just do everything in only AF with level 45 weapons but you wouldn't because it's not about challenge it's about thinking you're better than others. It is all about showing off that new shiny that only 5% of the people with the most time to play the game can get. Let's be honest there's very little in any MMO that doesn't boil down to just having enough people and enough time.

I would have the devs maintain the course and direction that they have already set, whatever that may turn out to be. I believe they've made too many compromises on the behalf of players/fans/media, between versions 1.0 and 2.0.
An example of what I mean would be what happened to gathering, which before comprised of some actual gameplay. Well a lot of people complained about it being too random, time consuming, and should not be skill-based. So now we have something that requires no effort other than taxing on our self-motivation to not give in to the boredom. It feels more time consuming now than it ever did.
Now that's not to say I don't enjoy or like this game in its current iteration, because I do. I'm having fun. Do I miss some things from version 1.0? Hell yea.
Nonetheless, it's not my game, it's the devs' game. I'm more interested in what they do with it, rather than dwelling on what was, or what I think should be.

I can't see any good reason why you do this. ("others mmos are doing it" is not a good reason)in addition to supplementing the end-game with extreme battles and other challenging content, we will also reduce the difficulty of the existing high level content at the same time
If the content is fun, people may want to do it again months/years later. Especially in a game where reroll is encouraged.
Are you implying that you don't try to make the content fun? Is it just some clever time sink and you reduce the old time sink when you release new time sink?
And what about the progression curve? Primal hard -> Primal extreme is an obvious progression, but if Primal hard are made easier, the curve is broken.
the game is perfectly fine the way it is, it has a nice sweet spot i think
a lot of Japanese players complained that the fights were too hard and SE has answered their complaints.
As a super casual player (I play like a snail cause I'm leveling 4 crafting classes at the same time as my main class) I welcome the "easyness".
In the past, games that become so ridiculously difficult become frustrating to a casual player and we end up quitting because we don't have all day to grind over & over until we "get it right."
Sure the hard core crowd are gonna be upset but its the "casuals" that are mostly fueling this game because we have to be at work most of the day so when we get home, we want to relax and enjoy the game, not be smacked in the face with frustration.
I think that the main storyline continues with bahamut coil so everyone has to get thru there eventually.
Not hoping for nerfs, just more options for doing shit.
More options for leveling alt classes, grinding tomestones, etc.
Difficulty doesn't bother me so much, but lack of viable shit to do to get certain things done is what wears away at my patience sometimes.

Whippet, I agree with some of what you say. You're freaking out though like the world is going to end. If you figured out the content and it is indeed easy (relatively speaking) to you now, why do you care if they nerf it for others if while simultaneously they give NEW DIFFICULT or even EXTREME content. They are doing what its called making everybody happy at the same time. You're griping makes you no better than the whiners that complain everything (even solo stuff) is too hard. Let it be and stay in your own world like most of the good players do. As long as challenging content, new content, and good stories are provided just roll with it dude (or dudette). Why make a stink that will go unheeded? Don't be a troll, please.
Yes, please SE don't nerf content that is already in the game that would just be silly. Much of the content could use an increase in difficulty as it is, why the hell would you Nerf more of it lol?
