    Ifrit HM Erupt Resist?

So occasionally I have noticed (and not all of the time) that Ifrit on HM seems to occasionally resist a stun here and there.

What can be the cause of this? Diminishing returns?

I know I personally have not interrupted plume, but could someone else interrupting be the cause of it?

If so, is there any way to point it out to shut up some of the people that insert the "i've never seen it resist ur doin something wrong" crowd...

If any other player in the group uses a Stun, it adds to the total diminishing returns.

You can easily see how the diminishing returns are going by looking at the duration of your stun debuff on Ifrit. His eruptions are -very- predictable and it's 100% possible for a single paladin to interrupt every one without DR kicking in (i say this after 30-35 back to back Ifrit runs for my sword/helping friends - I'd learned the eruption pattern so well i'm now able to maintain 2nd on the threat list between eruptions).

The first time you stun, it should be 6 second stun debuff. Second time, 3 seconds. Third time is just a very brief 1 second debuff. The fourth time will either be a total resist, or will reset to 6 seconds, depending on whether a fourth stun has been used. I always look at my debuffs, and if one is an unexpected length (eg, expecting 6, the debuff is 3). I'll warn the Raid immediately - "That stun was shorter duration. Next Eruption might go through. Be ready".

I believe Dragoons are usually the major "culprit" of extra stuns if they don't know about the diminishing returns. Leg Sweep I believe is an off-GCD stun that a lot of dragoons weave into their rotation for maximum dps. Spineshatter dive for leaping around also has a stun. Aside from Dragoons, I think Black Mages have a stun of some kind.

You ( and party ) can just stun 3 times in a row .
Ask polite ppl to not stun so you stun alone and dont get that nasty "inmune"

I still have to level my paladin but I will be making a macro that clearly states DPS and everyone to remove stuns from there hotbar.

Right, thank you for clarifying. Have killed ifrit quite a lot and it seems to be up in the air and I suppose it is possible another DPS not realizing it is adding onto the DR table. I usually don't have any issue with interrupts, and have got to where I can for the most part generate sufficient threat as well while waiting on his eruptions- but there always seems to be that third or fourth erupt that's sketchy at best if there are duty finder folks in it.

Ifrit is the same as Chimera, if you have done that part of the Relic quest.

If the Chimera or Ifrit are stunned 3 times in a row within 30 seconds they become immune to stuns for 30 seconds. If you are on stun duty you will know when it actually goes off when you hear the "Whoosh". You probably already knew that part though.

Haven't done chimera yet, will probably today- I just know when I see a resist, and type it out in party the majority of the time I get the usual "stop failing then" type of remarks.

I'll be sure to direct the finger pointing next time.

I was in an iffrit group where both tanks kept trying to interrupt, and mostly failing. They kept blaming lag, but once they made a macro to tell the party they were doing it, it became clear to me what the issue was. Both spammed "Stunning" like seven times at the same time. I've watched a lot of streams of runs that go smoothly, and it seems one tank is designated to just do that, no skills, so it's not on cooldown, just autoattacks. The other tank just focuses on tanking. That way, there is more a sure success of it happening, and no one else is causing diminishing returns.

Yeah, we usually dont have many problems since I found a tank buddy to run with and knows that I was on interrupt duty. We were running with a fairly new drg- so I'll make sure they aren't accidentally stunning. Appreciate all the helpful info
