Letting players shape the world with their actions isn't exactly SE's forte, so to speak. They prefer to keep the game on a very tight leash. Dynamic quests which give players the ability to change the story of the server is something that just doesn't appeal to the collective mind of SE.
SE are the pioneers of dynamic content, lol.

XI is also one of the least "leashed" MMO's out there. You can do so many originally unintended things it could actually be considered a feature.

Dynamic environments though? That's definitely not their forte. Not that they haven't done it, but not to the extend other games do.

SE like to make single-player games in MMO setting.

By making everything require a group...

By having everything happen in the open world instead of over-using instances..

By focusing on player interaction instead of the worlds themselves...

You gotta be trolling me bro.

User interaction isn't the game in FFXIV.

It's just a means to an end.

The market system aside, players can't do shit together beside grind together. And in that sense, I guess I mean "shit" literally.

By Yoshi's posts recently i feel that Gifthorse is a little closer to the truth... :/
    • Yoshi's entertaining the though of cross server grouping.
    • Yoshi's making instanced dungeons.
    • Current content is lacking a need for partying.

But what would you say if they make an event where the player-base must defend/defeat/capture places similar to Besieg where if the player-base wins they get a bonus. Or it could go linked to the story of the game too

Their mindset may have changed, but SE hasn't liked making single player games in MMO setting, at least up until now, and even that is mere speculation.

the problem with these BIG global events is the load on the servers, i would believe that is why we have yet to see a game with a in game event at the scale of a "war" (beside AION; the servers were crap though and you constantly dropped :/).

I'm seeing these global events though in more and more games and they slowly are getting better so you never know

Yeah, but most comments regarding FFXIV are speculation in these forums, we don't have much of a game in front of us yet.

Right now your guess is as good as mine. I'm really trying to hold my tongue now until i see the direction of this game.

The main storyline is so lame and sparse anyway that I don't see any reason to keep it in the game. SE should give all the players a chance to play a new storyline from the beginning with a well written comprehensible FF-quality plot that doesn't have level caps but they're designed to require more skill on the last chapters like any other FF title including XI.
