Understanding Focus Target

Hi folks,
A simple enquiry really. I want to know what I am doing exactly if I set focus target?

As an archer I have /assist bound to a key so I can Target the tank and easily switch to whatever he's attacking at the time.

I haven't used focus target because I don't understand what it does.

Basically it just gives the focused target a separate HP bar display from the normal one, so you can target other mobs but keep an eye on them. It also shows Buffs/Debuffs and their casting bar. It's not really required but makes a few fights easier like Demon Wall(Repel cast) and Tonberry King(buff stacks).
