As I leveled up SCH, I have found myself in dungeons (I am guilty of dungeon grinding instead of FATE grinding hehehe :P), that I did not use Eos during trash mobs. Eos aggroed WAY TOO MUCH.
I'm about to do this despite the lower xp, my brain is melting doing WHM fates in coerthas for the fourth time ...

Well it is still good exp (as are Levequest also). NOT THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY TO GET EXP does not mean sucky exp For example, at lvl 35+, I could get 80k per run. Which is good in my book.

As well as picking some nifty pieces of equipment.

And having no down time at all.

AND getting a good grasp of the job requirement in a party situation.

All of this to say, I second your idea of DF grinding lol

Sorry, probably not the right place to ask, but is it intended that sacred soil and shadow fire can't be up at the same time?

In the words of the reps "This feature is working as intended". Sacred Soil provides a potent, ground-placed, damage reduction while Shadow Flare is another ground-placed ability that provides damage over time and a permanent slow effect. The two together would be a little OP. Personally, I prefer spamming Shadow Flare on targets that it can effect, saving the aethercharges for Lustrate, Bane, or SS when facing highly damaging attacks.

Are you sure they don't work together? I am able to place shadow flare on the ground (see the slow debuff on mobs) and then pop sacred soil (and see the buff on my tank).

Are you telling me that even though the buffs show, they aren't both being used?

To be precise: Eos herself will aggro with the AE-hot not you - if she dies its not that bad (in comparison to the heal dying ) :>

Well yeah, I meant that, but its still pretty awkward. You cant turn off her heals obviously so as she takes damage she'll just continuously heal herself somewhere away from the tank most likely until she dies. Chances are it will likely run at you afterwards, if not, it's still pretty frustrating for yourself and the party when you have things running all over the place

Thanks for the useful information - specially for someone that mains Summoner and plays Scholar when needed ( and yes I DO revive dead members as SMN during raids - you can't imagine how many battles were saved because of that...)

I usually use a lot of Adloquium during fights to "overheal" with shields while patching up minor wounds. If the wounds aren't closed, I manually toss a quick embrace.
Usually I'll never let my fairy heal on her own (sometimes she saves my own live when I'm too busy healing the others xD) - while I start my cast to heal one member I can quickly target the next wounded party member and hit embrace. Really loving the split healing method. I mean combined, Scholars can heal for a whooping 700 potency single target heals with the cost of one Physick!
But lately I've been using Physick less and less because you get quite a lot of mp later on to cast Adloquium really often (on top of that, I compensate the high cost with the free embrace heals x))

Agreed that Lustrate is amazing on tanks, specially warriors - with 3 Aetherflow stacks you can patch up 60% HP again in a very short time WHILE you can run too.

As for the Arcanist spells, most of those are only used for their additional effect - Miasma/Miasmara is awesome if the enemies heal, Shadow Flare is basically a mini Slowga(= reduces damage received) and Eye for an Eye is just another great damage reduction buff which is especially useful when your tank pulled too many monsters at once lol. Virus isn't a DoT as it only reduces 4 stats for a short time (try this on Tumult to see the difference!)
Rouse sits on a 60sec cooldown at least at level 50+ so it's always nice to cast it once it is up - you can spam empowered embrace for 0mp.

Surecast is great for casting long spells on attacks like the reckoning blast at Garuda - but fails when you are paralyzed though (like in ADS)

As for Eos vs. Selene - I usually just prefer Selene during trash mobs and not too extreme boss fights. Using Eos on bosses that just need extra healing power and extremely tough fights where survival is top priority)
