That's how I feel.. we just need a stronger dose of what we have now, not less freedom.
Yeah but I believe Ancient Magic belongs with BLM, as thats their thing. Having said that maybe that is why Ancient Magic is so lame atm ^^
Edit - Are you Joking min maxers would love my Thunder Archer as it would be the most OP class in the game![]()

The current argument is that no matter what, if you have the skill, it's just as effective no matter what class you are.
That's bullshit. DoW can't AoE heal, they don't have the resources to main heal, but it's still a nice thing to have on your bar but by all means leave it off if you don't want it. I don't require my tanks to have sacrifice II, but if they happen to have it on their bar that's fine. Some spells and abilities are class restrictive as it is. Speed surge, tranquility. Extend that to spells down the line, but leave what is alone for now.
For example, Protect III/Shell III can be conjurer locked.
Sacrifice III could be Thau locked.
Aren't rank 50 abilities also locked in? I think it would be utter crap if I couldn't use certain abilities, or have my stats where I like them, just so the few of you can feel like the unique snowflakes you think you are.
Honestly? No one really cares what you're using to deal damage. Not all abilities are appropriate for the situation anyway. The more we see done with battle regiments the less whiney you'll all be about this.
Don't fix what isn't broken, at the very least wait until more information on the battle system fixes that are coming out before asking for FFXI-2
Cuz I got the magic -fix-~
we could have like 3 main jobs 5 classes war mage range classes could be light dark fire wind earth ice obviously the kind of class with mage would make it a blm rdm ice specialty earth specialty while rangers could get unique abilitys for that type and war could be drk pld so on while they dont have to stay like that classes could be light dark fire wind earth for the mage beserker mard and so on for war and others for the ranger
I know that there are many ways to fix the class system, but I disagree with scraping the old. First off the Armory system is what sets this game apart from other games, and any changes to it should be focused on the armory system. they shouldn't focus on Jobs. Rather try to fix & expand the Armory system. So while changes are needed I don't believe they should just start anew. Anyways here is a concept that I thought about.
Favor System
The Favor system is very similar to the FFXI way of Blue mage getting traits by equipping skills. What it does is by equipping the appropriate skill to the appropriate class you gain a trait. However unlike the FFXI system you would basically get a trait for every Skill instead of having to set many skills to gain a certain trait. here how my concept would work with Conjurer. (The trait is automatically equipped with the skill.)
Conjurer
Aero (Favor Trait:Increases Affinity with Wind based magic.)
Fire (Favor Trait:Increases Affinity with Fire based magic.)
Water(Favor Trait:Increases Affinity with Water based magic.)
Stone(Favor Trait:Increases Affinity with Earth based magic.)
Blizzard(Favor Trait:Increases Affinity with Ice based magic.)
Thunder(Favor Trait:Increases Affinity with Lightning based magic.)
Trance Chant (Favor Trait:Increases MACC by 5)
Cure (Favor Trait:Increases MND by 5)
Stoneskin (Favor Trait:Increases VIT by 5)
Repose (Favor Trait:Increases PIE by 5)
Shock Spikes (Favor Trait:Causes Lightning based damage to heal you)
Profundity (Favor Trait:Increases MATK by 5)
Radiance (Favor Trait:Increases Max MP by 5%)
Burn (Favor Trait:ATK +5)
etc..... you get the point.
Well, we could wait for the Job System to come and comment about the whole complex later.
Duh, winning =D
