I think they're useful to get someone's attention (who's maybe AFK or fell asleep), but I don't need to be notified every time you are about to use a WS.
Ayerc, I can understand your feelings about this topic, since apparently you have had to deal extensively with players who abused <call> commands. But I don't think we should allow fools take away one of the most valuable tools a game interface can provide. There are many legitimate uses for calls, both in combat and outside of it; getting the attention of temporarily distracted players is just one of them.

Here's one of many examples that come into my head:

I have conferred about this with several members of my LS and we agreed that calls would be great help for healers to notify the party, for instance, when buffs are going to be cast... The accelerated pace of combat in this game makes everybody hyperactive, and my CON's buffs always seem to miss two or three people, who can't sit still before attacking a new mob. If this bothers me now, I wonder how much more so it will, when difficulty and complexity of combat are increased, and I see myself under pressure to heal a bunch of unbuffed mêlée fighters.
