Can't switch audio output device without relaunching Client.

Without trying to sound rude, that's normal for most games/applications. They take the sound device at the point they load and continue to use that. They don't constantly recheck the primary device.

If you plug your headphones in via the front-audio on your computer (or a headphone port on your speakers) then the sound device would be the same and the sound should auto switch.

That's the problem, the sound doesn't switch. I've tried on two different systems. World of Warcraft has the ability to change the sound device via in game settings, as does Guild Wars 2, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
