The game won't launch for me any more.

I'm not sure what happened. It played fine last night but then this morning the game simply won't launch anymore. I log into the launcher fine but when I hit play the game just sits and sits in a windowed mode state with a black screen until it finally says ffxiv has stopped working. This is sometime immediate and sometimes it takes 5 minutes. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game to no avail. Same issue as before. Any help that I can get on this would be appreciated. Thanks

What's your graphic driver version? The info list shows it as blank.

Do you have sweetFX installed? I ran into a similar issue when I tried using it. When I completely removed sweetFX the game worked fine again afterward.

Make sure your security isn't clamping down on the launcher (this happens from time to time after updates, get a false positive on the hooking action to the other excutable). May want to just make an exception for the XIV folder for that matter.

Some have experienced similar behavior because of intrusion attempts. Check your email to see if SE has sent you an email requesting that you reset your password. It's possible that it could be a spoofed email, fishing for your credentials, so may not be a good idea to follow a link from it if you got one--better to go to the site yourself and change the password that way. Even if you didn't get an email yet, it may still be worth it to go to the SE AM site and change your password anyway (SE has been known to have long delays in communication).

Run a chkdsk on your drive. This resolves issues for me when I start getting the same behavior after a forced disconnect that tosses me back to the desktop.
