Or perhaps the game should stop locking us in a no-longer-necessary mode.Just unlock the target by pressing 'C' or from the configuration menu.
Locking onto targets was only useful in Beta when characters needed to have a line-of-sight for attacks to hit. Now that players automatically face the target when attacking, there's no point locking on anyway. So just disable it.

I'm not defending SE's choice for making the lock-on a default, I was just suggesting a solution.
And anyway, by definition, the locked-on camera should stay in one position, so you can't really fault the system for existing the way it does.
Fortunately for you, you can just press 'C' to disable the locked on camera.
