    Economy Needs a Buff

    I need to add my voice to the mass of players because im worried about the economy in ARR.

    Firstly, there doesn't seem to be a viable or reasonable way to 'farm' Gil........

    Secondly, being the pve game that ARR is, no equipment is ever destroyed from death or excessive use therefore how does this promote a healthy marketplace?

    Thirdly reiterating on the previous point, because there's no 'Circle of Life' on the marketplace how will crafters make do when everyone has all the equipment they need? it seems consumable crafting is the only safe way to go.

    Fourth, the game is very early but it would be nice to have more data on the marketplace eg. medians, moving quantities, averages. It would also be nice to have regional markets and not server wide markets. This would make trading much more viable.

    And lastly, being able to implement some sort've FC taxing ability would also be a nice start to potential future empire building features. (RvR wink wink)

    1stly:- You can farm gil from both dungeons (Alagan pieces) and leve quests.
    2ndly:- Equip is converted to Materia, although end game gear doesn't have any materia slots which does make it slightly redundant and needs looking at.
    3rdly:- There is profit to be made you just need to know what to make.
    4thly:- I agree totally, having this kind of data would make a massive difference to selling and also provide a more stable marketplace where its easy to see for new players to see the average sale price of previous items instantly. (I've been asking for this since 1.0)

    I can only hope that add ons will allow us to the 4th suggestion.

    I would hate to see a taxing PvP style system in this game.

    And leves give terrible gil. You could do 10 and not get 10k which is like 2 bad repair bills. I'm just hoping bronze allagan peices in 50 dungeons was a mistake and it should be silver.

    If I'm lucky I'll get like 500gil from a run. If we die two or three times that 500 gil is gone. You can make money from a dungeon if your lucky and there are no wipes but its by no means effective and I would bet that after 10 dungeons there would be a net loss.

    There truly is no real effective guild generator. The best I have found is crafting leves with HQ turnins but at 35 they are still less than 1k gil.

    Having been an effective user of the player economies in pretty much every MMO I've played (no, I don't want to admit how many), all this talk about the economy is starting to chill my attitude on this game. If I can't effectively use my crafting and things like leves to augment my wallet in game, the fact that I've got limited time for endgame commitments to run for gear is definitely going to detract from the game as I level.

    I wonder if/what the devs might be planning??

    I lost all my (100k) gil from leveling carpenter. I'm now so broke, I can't afford to repair my AF. I got no leve allowances on account of leveling carpenter. And there is no real way to earn gil. Seriously, the economy is broken. I mean come on, for a DD or even a healer, it takes 15-30 mins waiting for DF to get you a dungeon party, after which you get 500-1500 gil. Not only does that not pay for my repairs, it just doesn't seem worth the effort.

    I'm not surprised of the influx of gil sellers, taunting me with their many Ks of gil as I scrounge for scraps just to get by.

    Why can't you make some lumber and sell, there is profit in all base materials, especially if you HQ them, you just have to put the work in.

    Gathering classes are also easy to make money off, and have little lay out in terms of gear as you can get most of it from doing the class quests.

    I do agree with someone above though that hopefully bronze allagan from level 50 dungeons was a mistake, Silver would be better.

    The problem with lumber is on Balmung, most lumber the profit is marginal at best. I would also mean spending hours getting crystals together seeing as the only way to get them is gathering, they give little to no gathering XP, and the abilities related to them cost so much GP (I mean 400 GP for 2 extra trees worth of crystals? Come on...) it just doesn't feel worth it. Most money seems to be made from high-level mats, but without leves, leveling gathering classes takes an age, and as I said, I've used up all my allowances on acount of leveling carpenter.

    Am I the ony one who thinks 3 leves per 12 hours is not enough?
