    The point of this thread is to highlight the issue of the cap on mob SP/EXP at 10+ ranks above your own. When I can solo a lot of mobs 10 ranks higher than me and easily duo to get the max SP/EXP it removes any incentive to play in a group of 8 outside of leves. Why would you take a big group out to level on those mobs when you will get less SP and most likely kill to fast so you will be waiting for respawns.

    There are other solutions like removing the 10 rank cap but I still firmly believe that if I am rank 30 and a mob is also rank 30 it should present some sort of challenge and I should be rewarded accordingly.

    What I suggest is not just a straight mob buff but also looking at SP/EXP distribution, mob distribution and respawn rates. It isn't an easy fix, I realise that but it is something that should not be overlooked. If they can get away with putting a plaster over the underlying issues then great I don't care as long as it works. If it means I can take a group of 8 to Mor Dhona and kill things 20+ ranks above us and be rewarded for the difficulty and challenge the present then great. As it is at the minute there is no point in doing that as I would get faster SP/EXP zerging Raptors.

    Agreed. Mobs equal to your rank shouldn't be IMPOSSIBLE to kill (FFXI bleh) but be chalanging, so that mobs 10 ranks above you can present group challenge. but removing the stupid 10rank cap would also help a ton.

    To be honest I am fed up of catering to solo play in FFXIV, I loved the party aspect of FFXI and the social aspect that went along with it. My understanding was the point of MMO's is to play with other people.

    If they want to cater to solo players then why not utilise the "companion" everyone has, much like the fellow feature in FFXI. If you play solo you could call your companion to fight by your side so at least you could duo then.

    If you do this and buff the mobs up would you also look into SP/EXP gains and balance those out as well. So an even match would give x amount of SP and an IT++ (10 ranks+) would give a decent amount at that rank.

    For example an R40 party of 8 killing R50+ Grass Raptors would get 500SP a kill, while a R30 Party killing R40+ Efts would get 350SP something like that maybe. I don't know just make it so it's worthwhile to group up and party is the point.

    On top of that look into mob distribution and ensure that we have clusters of mobs all around the same rank in area's. They don't all have to be the same mob in fact different ones would make it more interesting just make sure that if I go to this x area all mobs are R30-35 if I go somewhere else they are R40-45 and so on. Just make sure that the mob density or respawn times are fast enough to sustain a party to rank up without having to wait for mobs to respawn or run all over the place to find them creating unnecessary downtime and slowing SP/EXP down which will defeat the purpose of doing all this in the first place.

    If you can do this then hell we might be able to bring back good old fashioned grind parties that are worthwhile and actually get people joining up and playing together outside of Leve's, now wouldn't that be nice ^^

    pretty much agree with that. I would also like to see more and harder to avoid special moves to spice things up, not only buff them (most games do that by bigger def or + hp only, which makes it slower but much more fun).
    let the mobs debuff us like hell sometimes so the mages have a job, not only curespam. since atm curespam is the answer to everything.
    Make the mobs so hard that we NEED to debuff them to succeed, so para, blind absorbs etc, are a MUST not a nice to have. Only then well see more fun and challenging fights. etc. etc.
